  1. Yes - it happens at most schools and is tricky to organise work/childcare. But I agree it's better for the children...
  2. That's interesting/odd because so many people have it. I was hoping this system would minimise any movement. But thanks for your feedback.
  3. Hello - has anybody used this on their driveway? Well, "driveway" is a bit too grand a description, but we have an area in front of our house that we park our car on - I like the gravel look but would like it to stay put and not get into the flowerbeds/onto the pavement. If anybody has this and used a local business to supply it, can you let me know if you were happy with it and who did it for you? Thanks!
  4. Hi - we do breakfast club in the mornings and have a lovely "after school nanny" who collects the children, brings them back to ours (or to clubs), gives them supper and stays until 6.30 when I get back from work. She's not a "career" nanny (i.e. no full time nanny experience) but is warm, kind and reliable. She's perfect for us. We found her on here. If you want cover from 8.00ish, breakfast clubs are pretty good. It works for me as I drop the children off on the way to the station. We advertised on here too for after school nannies and got a few applications from nice sixth formers. A few friends have au pairs and that has generally worked out pretty well - especially if you want help getting the chidlren ready in the morning and walking them to school. Also useful if you could do with a couple of nights of babysitting and some help with kids' washing, loading/unloading the dishwasher etc. If you go down the au pair route, you can interview over Skype, which apparently is a good way to get to "know" the au pair.
  5. "Glynn Barton" is lovely. It's a block of self-catering cottages, with a few farmyard animals to feed every day (and eggs to collect), a small indoor swimming pool and a v small soft play area (probably more suitable for toddlers). It's inland but about 20 minutes drive to the coast.
  6. Thanks all - apparently it was because I had my booking in appointment outside the hospital, at a GP surgery. She has to take her notes back to King's, get the notes and then give them to me... She's not working again until next week so presumably I'll get them before my scan on Thursday. Will call to check when she is back in.
  7. Thanks Gina. Damzel - it's just that A4ish booklet that records your blood pressure, measurements etc. at each appointment. There's also space to write a birth plan in it (not that I ever did). You definitely need to bring it to the hospital when you have your baby. I'll call the surgery to see if they know or speak to the midwife when she's next in.
  8. Hello, I'm pregnant with baby number 3 but it's the first pregnancy in the area (as we moved here a couple of years ago). I had my booking in appointment yesterday (11 weeks) with a lovely midwife attached to King's. I think that with babies 1 and 2, I got my maternity notes at the booking in appointment (to bring them with me to every subsequent appointment and scan - and to the hospital in labour). Does anybody know when pregnant women get their notes in the King's system? Thanks!
