  1. Hello everyone. I'm Xenia and I'm having my first baby in early November. I would LOVE to be added to this group please, it would be really nice to meet some local mums :) I'm on 07833670266. Thanks, Xenia x
  2. Our new term starts TONIGHT! All welcome to come and join us. If it's your first time it's 100% FREE. 7.30-9pm at the Copleston Centre
  3. Peckham Rye Sings is a fun and friendly community choir based in Peckham and led by local choir leader Xenia Davis. Our new term starts on Monday 4th September and runs up to Christmas. Anyone is welcome to join, at any point in the term. We meet on Monday evenings from 7.30-9pm at the Copleston Centre, Copleston Road, SE15 4AN. We sing beautiful a cappella folk, gospel and world music songs in 3 and 4 part harmony. All songs are taught by ear. We were founded in June 2015 and we?ve grown to around 45 members. Everyone is welcome to come and sing with Peckham Rye Sings, whether your singing is limited to the shower or you belt out ballads on the London Overground. There is no need to read music, and you don?t need to audition. Your first session is 100% free! After that it?s ?7 waged/ ?5 concessions per week. If ?5 ever feels out of range, come along anyway and pay what you can, or don?t pay. Money should never be a reason for not singing! Come along every week, or just come once or twice a term, whatever works for you. No need to commit to every week ? we get that people have busy schedules! We usually do 1-2 performances per term. We?ve sung at the Southbank Centre, at local community Wassailing events, at the launch event of Peckham Citizens, at local community festivals, Sing For Water, and we?ve flash mobbed the London Overground. We took part in Singing For Unity events in London over in 2016. Performing is totally optional though, it?s fun, but not everyone?s cup of tea, so if you?re not into performing, that?s totally fine. 'How do I join?', you ask! Just come along on a Monday evening at 7.30. We don?t have auditions, and there are no limits to how many people can join per part. 4. Following recommendations we asked Kevin to come and do some building work at our house. We've found him to be unreliable and unprofessional, a warning to anyone looking for a builder. Happy to give further examples of anyone wants to pm me but to give a flavour: Our whole kitchen and hallway were left coated with dust when he was working on the kitchen, no dust sheets put down and no attempt to clean up mess either. He's missed/ forgotten several appointments. One example from this week: [20/04 09:33] My housemate: Morning Kevin! What time are you coming? [20/04 09:37] Kevin Builder: I forgot all about that can come on Sat at 12 Followed by a quote from today: Kevin: gdmorning I won't be able to come today my grandmother has ask me to take her out and I couldn't say no I'm gonna be on Barry road with a client I'm gonna have to postpone it till Thursday at 12 I'm very sorry but I promise defo il do it Thursday once again sorry. There was also an incident involving one of Kevin's workers that made a female friend of mine who was alone in the house at the time feel very uncomfortable, and Kevin has also used offensive racist language in conversation with me, which made me feel very uncomfortable. The work he's done has been of an OK standard, but the unreliability and unprofessionalism is probably worth bearing in mind if you're looking for a builder. Happy to pm further details if anyone wants them.
  5. Definitely agree with Righty, I would strongly not recommend Kevin either. Also happy for people to pm me for details!
  6. 27th July it is indeed, 10am - 4pm. Oops should have posted that the first time around! Thanks for all the interest everyone :) Flyers attached here...
  7. Oops meant Sunday 27th July. #hownottopromoteanevent
  8. Ahhh sounds fun, gutted I missed it. To anyone who needs a jumble fix in the mean time, I'm organising East Dulwich's first ever Jumble Trail on Sunday 29th July. A bit like a car boot sale, but you set up a stall in your front garden, register it on an online map and then shoppers wander round the community getting to know their neighbours on the hunt for bargains! ?5 to register a stall, which you can do online here: http://jumbletrail.com/event/SE222014 Any questions just holler :)
  9. Jumble Trail 2014 is nearly upon us! A jumble trail is like a car boot sale but you set up a stall in your front garden and bargain hunters and happy shoppers go on a neighbourhood trail, and so you get to know your neighbours in the process. All the stalls are plotted on an interactive online map so you know where to find them. This is the first time we've had a jumble trail in East Dulwich, which is exciting. Anyone interested in having a stall should register here: http://jumbletrail.com/event/SE222014 Any questions just shout! Happy jumbling :) Xenia

  11. Hello East Dulwich! I'm organising an event called Jumble Trail on 27th July. Basically it's a community event where local residents can register to have a mini jumble sale in their front yards, and then there's an interactive map that plots out where all the stalls will be taking place. There was a brilliant pilot one in Hackney last year where over 100 stalls took part, and this year the organisers are rolling it out and I've volunteered to champion one in East Dulwich. The facebook event is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/810470192310342/?fref=ts And the actual website with further info and to register is here: http://jumbletrail.com/event/SE222014 Xenia
