  1. I don?t understand the fundamental purpose of this scheme. If the answer is to close the roads, what is the question? The roads are still open, albeit quieter, so the scheme doesn?t create any more space to walk on (was lack of space for pedestrians even a problem in the first place??). The impact of the displaced traffic is dramatic. I live on Oxonian Street and we?ve seen a huge increase in cars cutting through, frequently speeding in the wrong direction on the one way street. The dramatic increase in congestion and therefore pollution from the displaced traffic is absolutely evident and has made Lordship Lane unpleasant to walk along. I think I saw that they?re planning to keep this in place for up to 18 months! It?s truly shocking.
  2. Thanks. I found the relevant pages on the Southwark website. The site wouldn't allow me to register because my street isn't in a CPZ area yet so I tried calling the helpline which directs you back to the website. What an appalling, amateurish design!
  3. When is the CPZ Parking due to be implemented? We live on Oxonian Street which is in the impacted area, but haven't heard anything from the Council.
  4. Is this a house near the junction with Elsie Road? If so, I hear this poor dog barking very frequently. It?s so cruel to leave it outside for hours (sometimes overnight)in this cold weather.
  5. Hi there, we live near goose green and take our dog there sometimes for a run around. It's definitely a good idea to take him off the lead early for the reasons you've mentioned - we weren't aware of that and it's been challenging to help him develop his 'recall' skills now that he's a bit older. Just one word of warning - some of the railings in goose green (on the North side) are spread wider than the rest so our miniature schnauzer once got through them. If you stick to the easterly end of the green (nearest the play park) you'll be well away from those gaps.
  6. I just called Thames Water to find out what's going on. Their internal system only provided the original dates for this project (i.e. the whole thing was due to be completed by July) so the lady I spoke to is going to ask someone from the project team to call me in the next 24 hours to provide an update. It didn't sound particularly promising - if I understood her correctly then it sounds like there's a lot more work to do before the project is complete so we may have to put up with this for quite a while longer. It sounded like they need to dig more holes further up towards Dunstan's Rd, which would presumably entail another few weeks or months of work. The whole thing has been pretty farcical; I think I recall receiving one letter notifying me that the project was about to start about 6 months ago but have received nothing since. I work from home a lot of the time and the endless din of the heavy duty equipment, generators, diggers, hammering and shouting has been extremely disruptive. I know a few neighbours are retired and others have young children who will probably be at home for a lot of the school holidays so the impact will be particularly severe for them - no one is going to want to sit in their garden or even open their windows while this is going on as it's bad enough with all of the windows closed. It's very frustrating that the residents in the area simply have to tolerate this. No communication, no compensation and seemingly no consequences for Thames Water when the work over-runs. I'll post an update when I receive more info from Thames Water.
