  1. I recently underwent a loft conversion with Central London Lofts and wanted to recommend them because I've ended up with a beautiful big bedroom and extra bathroom. The project took longer than I expected and went a bit over budget, but it seems this is pretty standard for building work! Ali was our project manager and at every turn he did his utmost to get things just right, and promptly fix any problems that came up. Thought this might be useful for others.
  2. Hi - I'm based off Lordship Lane and have a leaking conservatory. I'm not even sure who fixes these things! It's a bit old so probably needs a decent check over. Any suggestions? Many thanks!
  3. I've had a TERRIBLE time with dodgy builders and unreliable tradesmen recently, that it is refreshing to be able to recommend someone for a change. Peter the Painter - on 07728 824 195 - did a brilliant job on my house over the last few weeks and I'm very happy to send around his details if anyone is looking for a good, reliable painter!! Isla
  4. We had a great time last year with my 3 year old - wandered from the village back to ED around 5pm and knocked on doors that were dressed up - it was really sociable and everyone was very friendly, there was a lovely community feel to it. When we got home we put out our own pumpkins and probably had about 30 people knocking on the door until we ran out of sweets around 8pm!
  5. Similar problem - I just bought this - haven't tried it out yet but am optimistic! http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/beltupp-strap-d3799.html
  6. Hi - does anyone have a recommendation for a local damp proofer? (Or someone not to use?!!), Thanks!
  7. Just to recommend Dave from Down the Drain - he came this morning to investigate some blocked pipes, had everything cleared within the hour, was polite and most important - upfront about the costs which I appreciate in a tradesmen! Thanks Dave! his number is 020 8314 5244. Isla
  8. Just another recommendation for Jonathon - good job - particularly with the tricky conservatory roof!!
  9. Hi - I'm hoping to renovate my garden in time for summer, but not had any luck with the ones I've phoned so far (either too busy or don't reply to my messages?!). I need someone who might help me plan it out, come up with some ideas (it's currently completely decked and I want it a bit more kid friendly), and potentially replace the decking with fake grass, or move the deck to make it 50/50 or something! I'll need a bit of clearance, removing a few timber beams that have been put up, and help with the 30+ pots I seem to have inherited. Anyone got any good recommendations?! Much appreciated! Isla
  10. This sounds great! I've just moved into the area and would love to meet some other mums and toddlers too, and I do love to sing! What age group are the kids? Mine is 2yrs 9 months and quite hectic - I'm not sure he'd settle but I'd like to give it a try. Are there toddlers running around or is it more for those with babies who will stay in prams? Thanks!
