  1. Why dont you trust the council ??? Answer please ??? And to sue, yes you really love nature dont you when you wrote you was responsible for the decline of the stag beetle by treading on them! Dont you know the song all creatures great and small. Sounds to me you was not "brought" up to respect nature!
  2. To all those haters of nature "Buzzzz off" !! .... from miss bumblebee. Xxx
  3. Im still waiting on your answer as to why you dont trust the council???? And untill you reply i wont be replying to your question. Goodbye. Xxx
  4. You say you dont trust local council ? May i ask why not?? And providing proof would not alter your opinion as so many people have provided proof as i mentioned before, via links, and youtube clips but you like sue and a few others turn a blind eye and dont respond? Why is this?? The truth is the fact that the council are getting away with it and people who have no power are left to fight for what they believe to get their voices heard. Councils have other land what others have suggested on here.
  5. I dont need to post any photos of my evidence, i have seen enough of the damage they have caused already by the many pictures and youtube links that already have been posted on here. Have you not seen these!! If you want to see evidence for yourself, you only have to take a slow walk and inspect the old stonework and you too will see that its new damage!
  6. Yes, and you have also implied that i have no evidence of angels wings and heads being knocked and damaged. I have got evidence of this on my camera and it clearly shows it is new damage by the colour of the stone. Yes we have open spaces and parks around the area, but these are not woodlands or places that are allowed to become a bit overgrown for wildlife like i mentioned before, hedgehogs, butterflies, stag beetles, and a variety of other wildlife creatures. If you read the book "The english way of death" by julian litten, you will know that these beautiful old graves and the skill of the stonemasons is all part of the charm of these old cemeteries and part of our social history! That is sadly slowly, disapearing in london. No im not part of any group or protester, these are just my own thoughts and feeelings. I dont want gleaming white headstones and a lawn withoout a blade of grass out of place. I like big trees that have been here longer than me, and long grass so i hear the grasshoppers and crickets, and to see wild poppies and wild flowers blowing in the wind and being able to re-seed without the lawn mower coming along and cutting them off.
  7. I agree that the way the council are treating the cemetery is like its just a playground, they show no respect, and i have seen on many occasions how the tractors have left there tractor marks across graves and also noticed that since they have been doing works lovely old stones of angels have had heads and wings knocked off! Is this deliberate as they can then say that for saftey reasons now they will need to be destroyed! This is british history of londoners .Are we wrong to want a bit of london history. Do we want neat rows of grave stones, all gleaming white, with neatly mowed lawns. With no peaceful hidden places to sit and reflect on life and hear just the peacefulness of birds. I love the way in times gone by how people 'wanted to go out in style', (horse and cart.) Do we lose all these old values, and traditions and with it our britishness. We dont have to be ashamed of 'old things', they are charming and add to our own charm and quanintness of london! You will all miss these things of london when they are gone. Although im young in my years , i love history and nature and feel very stongly about these things.
  8. Thank you keira, you understand what im trying to say saying. Only people who have a love and respect for nature can understand that we share this planet with so many creatures, that each and every creature no matter how small has a purpose. And as for the stag beetles , well their larvae depend on dead rotted wood and old trees, that is why replanting new trees and cutting down old ones is completely stupid!! This is the whole point of preserving "old" woodland areas as many creatures prefer this type of environment!
  9. Every bit helps, no matter how small the land is, every inch of green matters in london! We all have a part to play! If everyone thought that every bit of overgrown cemetary space or green space did not matter, where does this lead us. To a loss of many creatures in nature that cant be replaced.! I believe many of these cemetries have deliberately been left to become derelict land especially in areas that are up-and-coming areas. And to be fair, if you asked any school child if they have ever seen a stag beetle, i bet all of them would say "no, what is that"!...
  10. Trees and nature do matter, and to destroy this land and think that replanting again will encourage all the wildlife back is wrong! Why dont we see stag beetles anymore, our own species of the ladybird, lots of butterflies that we used to see when i was a child (like the peacock butterfly,) and hedgehogs , and even sparrows. What will be left for our children? A visit to the museum to see all the beautiful creatures preserved in glass cabinets!!.. Nature plays its part in many enviromental issues like flooding which we have read a lot about in the last few years. People are doing away with their frount and back gardens for a more modern contempary plant-free gardens, which is only making these issues worse.
