  1. Just wanted to add another recommendation for Steve, my washing machine broke down and it just so happened he was around the corner on a another job but managed to squeeze me in...just a minor repair needed so he has saved me on buying a new machine!!! Thanks again Steve!
  2. Cora, Is your son in year 6 or 7? We love Old Alleynians on the south circular, its a great club with a long history. My son is in year 6 and plays in the under 11's and yes its contact!! Training is Sunday mornings also! Please pm me if you want more info or check out their webpage
  3. Not sure why kids cant walk there? is it really too far? Wonder if the intake will increase? Maybe Angelina means the original temp site! I also received an email and understand that the nodal point will still be as originally stated not in Camberwell (which makes sense). Think this is great news for all the kids that are hoping to go to the new school, much better facilities.
  4. Thank you The blog/stories were heart wrenching and good to see first hand how valuable everybody's donations were! Well done to everyone involved and the local community!
  5. Completely agree tomskip I find the "6" ridiculous too and refuse to fill it up with nonsense schools I have no intention of sending my kid too. You can still be given a school not of your choice even if you fill the spaces up!!! Another bug bear is being told to accept what you are given...HELL NO....this is why kids are waiting sometimes all summer and into the school term for a school place of their choice. Do not accept a school unless you would send your child there. Unless we as parents start rebelling to what Renata and co tell us things wont change. I intend to challenge anyone that says accept the place next year as again its nonsense and affects the kids who have a school they don't want.
  6. According to that letter the final handover of land wont be until early 2019...that's ridiculous! The kids start in 2016 so they wont have proper facilities until GCSE's. Not good enough - really don't understand why the NHS are being so pedantic over this???
  7. Completely agree that 6 spaces is ridiculous and I refuse to fill it up with schools I wont go to. The system needs to change! Last year I know kids from ED/Peckham that got places at Elm Green and Deptford so they are realistic choices. There is a fairly new school "University Academy of Engineering South Bank" - next open day 7th October http://www.uaesouthbank.org.uk/ Haven't been there yet either! London Nautical is in Lambeth and I know a few kids from around here that go there.
  8. tomskip - how did you cope over summer? Had you planned on going to another school?
  9. We went this morning and was also very impressed! Think its an excellent school. My reports come from my daughters friends whose brothers go there, only have heard good things about it. Not sure about admissions as the criteria has changed to distance only. It will go on my list but doubt we will get a place (Goose Green/Bellenden Rd).
  10. Thanks for the quick response, I think it will also help those like me who expect an automatic reply once submission is made (horrified that application didn't go through and no school place!!) Also pleased that hospital site is no different to charter site visit! I have booked a visit to charter. Very reassured!
  11. I thought I would start a new thread as I have a couple of questions but as yet no response from Charter ED. I filled in the online application form but as yet no email to confirm - anyone else? I have sent an email asking them to confirm application was received but nothing back yet! Would love to hear if anyone else has tried and succeeded or failed also. Secondly the tours of the hospital site are saying (via eventbrite)they are full...can anyone at charter ED confirm they will put more on? Thanks!!!
  12. Can I ask where it states the intake will only be 120, I have looked at the new website and couldn't find anything. Really hope that's not the case! Found it! Its under "applying for a school place"
  13. I think if the right wing lot turn up they will be few in numbers and the police will be there to monitor (big brother and all that) Best advice I have heard is if your worried stick to the back or outskirts so if there is anything going down you can get out fast. Personally I think it will be a very peaceful march I will be taking my kids and I know mumsnet have been organising marching under a banner #couldbemychild. You could check their website for more info. I think kids need to see how powerful peoples voices are and its so important to stand up for what you believe in especially when you think your govt is in the wrong!
  14. There is a march planned 12th Sept - next Saturday. Link to Guardian article and details http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/sep/04/organise-london-march-britons-solidarity-refugees-london-facebook
  15. Thanks for this, are your open days for the new school ED different to the open days at charter 1? Do you have a site yet for the temp buildings and how many places?
