  2. Hi John.. when you mention my name also tell Bill about Vi Louch..Jean and Wendy. They also worked in the office. Jean used to count all the takings, cash/cheques each day from the petrol station outside the showroom of Gordons. I remember 1 particular day when Jean collected the takings..walked across the road to the office and mentioned to Bill that she felt she was being watched! Bill then got the 2 car cleaners to be her security guards for a number of weeks! She said she felt like royalty!I have always remembered how good it was to work for an independant company till this day.. I do remember Madge but only by name as Lenny who I got to know really well worked under her..ah 1975..!! ATB..pat
  3. Thats a great story John..knowing Francis and him working for your Dad. I have a few black and white signed photos from their 'End of The Road'! tour from 1985! Its funny how since then I have been to more shows!!! A friend of mine took the pics and through the Management Company, Francis and Rick Parfitt signed them.. I have been backstage with them a couple of times around the UK.. Do you still talk to Bill Vero? I wonder how his brother Richard is? It was my very first job and Richard was as good as gold to work for..as were they all really..
  4. If only we had mobiles with cameras on in them days..!! Saved memories!
  5. The only person I knew working in helmuts/hats was a tall black guy called Lenny.. We became good friends and spent many a lunchtime going to the chip shop in Lordship Lane.. Pat
  6. Hi John...amazing website..as you've probably heard before..fab history.. How are the Vero's? Richard who I worked for was a racing driver I remember..there was also Keith Vero..Bill..who was immaculate in his suit each day..very smart..and his father too.. Think John Sadler? ran the parts dept..Tony Trick was their main salesman..and Fred with the bad back sold their second hand cars It was my first job in their accounts dept..went to a few of their 'new car launches'.. I lived in Camberwell..Vicarage Grove..went to St Giles youth club same time as working for Gordon's..lived in South London for 45 years..SE5..SE15..SE16 before moving to Kent 10 year ago..
  7. Thats fab John...I shall take a look..sadly didnt get to meet your Mum as I worked on the top floor from 1975 but I do remember 1 famous day when Barry Sheene came in to collect his helmut from the ground floor..ALL the Vero's where running around for him as were the staff! Bill was a bit of a nutter at times and had lots of family disagreements in the office..I had two years there before moving onto John Lewis Oxford St.. I was only 16 then, Bill was more linked to the helmuts than the Garage/Showroom I remember.. Its also strange that this thread links onto Status Quo who I have seen to date 198 times! Its great to hear of these times again...pat
  8. I used to work at Vero's to in 1976/77..in the office on the top floor with Richard Vero.. a few women.. think they were Vi..Wendy..Jean..Richards brother..father and grandfather were also on the top floor in another office...where did you work?
