  1. Well, someone told me there were people in there still drinking at 1am! Not sure about a break in...... There was no fire at 3am or lights or noise - I was popping to the loo and looked directly at the building from the viewpoint the picture attached shows. I feel sorry for the coaches who may have lost their living due to perhaps a break in or someone's lack of attention to detail - only time will tell. The firefighters were great - especially after the tea and toast I served. #civicduty. Go sign their petition to keep the stations open and LOCAL!
  2. It pains me to do this but please think twice before using GMs. I've been there 3 times - the first time was ok. The cut was ok as was the colour. I had asked more a bit more of a cut but the hairdresser said it took her a couple of cuts to get the right style for the customer. OK I thought. I went back a few weeks later for a blow dry as I was glaming up for a special night out. It wasn't with the person I'd had before - I'd asked for her and was told she wasn't in but she was there when I came in. The style dropped out after 1 hour and was a complete mess. I had to wash and re do at home. At my 3rd and very much final visit the junior took out my highlights too early despite me asking her twice if they should come out. I was then left in the hair wash room whilst the stylist told her off outside - there were tears and everything. No one came to talk to me. A totally different person came in and just continued washing my hair as if nothing had happened. On questioning she said it should be fine. Finally back in my chair my stylist didn't mention what had happened. I had to ask and say I was upset. When I got home, the cut I'd asked for had not been done ('d been there 4 hours so just wanted to get out as you could imagine). Furthermore my highlights had not been carried through my hair or been done at the right angle to my scalp. Consequently I have waves of colour through the lengths of my hair and I now have zig zags at my scalp as it has grown. Now you might say go back and get it sorted. Thing is when you lose all trust you just don't want to and can't. I now have hairdresser phobia. gMs seem to offer cheap services and that, in my experience, is exactly what you get.
  3. Just thought i would say i have had blinds and cushion covers made up from this shop and you must be talking about someone else. He has come to my house, been civil, courtious (i know i cant spell) and very helpful. He didn't try to tell me what i should or should not buy, in fact he said that he is just concentrating on the making side of things. He's never tried to pressure me into buying anything. In fact he brought round about 20 material books and let us have them overnight and then picked them up the next day. He made some wonderful cushions covers for me, it was with some designers guild fabric that i supplied (off cuts) and he charges only ?25 per cushion, John Lewis and Designers Guild are upwards of ?50. In my view he's a good local businessman and i would definately recommend him. He said he was going to start a new range of covered ottamans, made to measure, with a foam depth to suit and fabric on request, all for about ?200 plus the material cost. Again Designers Guild charge about ?400 plus material, so it sounds interesting, with it being made to measure and all. Before you ask, i am not related or have anything to do with his business, just thought i would give my experience with him an airing. many thanks
