It's pretty scandalous that there is an empty building which could be made good and used.

Yes, understand. However you can still buy produce that is not plastic wrapped
-
no, not the North St market - that's just silly.
There is a fruit and veg shop further up but ED is far more expensive than Peckham/ Brixton/ HH for the same stuff.
Coop and M&S also do non packaged fruit & veg at decent prices.
-
That's a shame. I do hear of parcels being delivered to the wrong address frequently, as well as parcels being stolen.
It's worth reporting any thefts to the police.
It seems that safe receipt of the goods isn't a high priority.
You can get Amazon delivered to lots of pick up places, maybe that's the safest option?
-
That is exactly the problem.
It's too convenient to buy the plastic wrapped poor quality stuff, so the supermarkets will keep selling it.
It's a real battle when consumers have the power to make positive changes, but not if it's inconvenient.
There are stalls in East D, Peckham, Brixton and Herne Hill that sell fresh fruit and veg, not wrapped in plastic. You don't have to look far at all.
The argument for being too busy is not convincing. It's really just an excuse.
-
I would suggest to use other suppliers and not amazon.
They might be convenient but really, so many reasons to use local suppliers instead

I've become wary of buying oranges now especially ones sold in packets and bags. Apparently they're treated and sprayed and/or were kept frozen to look newer and riper than they really are.
They can look ripe, plump and colourful when you buy them but in a matter of days you pick one out and it's gone completely moldy which as anyone knows has probably infected the others and you have to chuck em out.
why would you buy fruit in plastic anyway?
If everyone were to make good choices when shopping, the supermarkets would have to respond.
ie if no one buys individually wrapped cucumbers, the shops will stop stocking them.

please contact your local councillor.
we have and they are doing a news article about it

Report it to the police. It's happening all over.
Best bet is to get everything recorded signed for rather than post.
or arrange to collect it from somewhere

Hallowe'en is always on the same date each year.
we always put out pumpkins or pictures in our windows to welcome the little ones

it's not every day though is it. It's a relatively quiet area, but yes if you scale it up it could well be that every house in ED has a party that could mean several every day over the entire year.
yes - they could let neighbours know - why not ask them to do so next time they have a party. It would be a bit more proactive.
-
And for all the other days of the year, you get to sleep but for one night a year you don’t.
let people have fun.

Thames Water are beyond awful.
So much money paid in dividends, so much debt, so little investment.

Maybe with all the revelations about their shocking debt and equal payments to shareholders, that they are having to be seen to do something?
Or do they just do superficial recurring fixes?
-
So let it be. It’s not every day

Just buy biodegradable or compostable dog poo bags, most are just plastic which will go into landfill and stay plastic for many many years to come.

The Plough has cask ales and the food is good, the staff are nice.
Dulwich but not really East Dulwich which is fantastic.
Actually, don’t go there and spoil it please.

what ID will they accept?

The only way to stop people doing something has to be extreme.
if it makes it too expensive or inconvenient to drive, people will stop.if will of course affect those who have to drive for work, or cannot get around otherwise.
-
I think LTNs are a good thing - however there also needs to be a drive to reduce the number of car journeys - in part people not jumping in the car by default, and also by improved train services and other public transport. Unnecessary car journeys being the most obvious and quickest impact.
If there are areas that are affected by infrequent buses, have you written to TfL and said that?
If there are more buses introduced, there should be a related reduction in cars.
Of course, people choose to live where they do, and transport options is a big part of that.
