  1. I?d like to recommend Steve Evans of S Evans Roofing (07810 202130 or [email protected]). He is local to the area and recently completed a flat roof investigation and fix for me. I found Steve via CheckaTrade, where he has very positive feedback. I use the ED Forum to find good local tradespeople so wanted to recommend Steve here. Steve was looking into a tricky slow leak from a balcony which sits above a flat roof structure. I?d been quoted significant amounts by 2 builders to take up the flagstones and insulation of the balcony structure - with one telling me the answer was a full new roof. Steve undertook a more local/appropriate investigation of the area above the leak and talked me through his findings so that I could follow his thinking. The issue was nothing to do with the flat roof asphalt, which was intact and in good condition. What was actually needed was to improve the flow of water through the side gutter to stop it backing up and working its way under the lead fold. Steve put in place a sensible fix to do just that at a fraction of the cost quoted by my builders. He?s a nice guy, comes when he says he will and is clearly knowledgeable. A good find, so passing his details on.
  2. Hi there. If you are still looking, I can recommend Steve Evans of S Evans Roofing (local to the area and contactable on 07810 202130 or via [email protected]) who recently did some flat roof investigation and fixing for me. Two other builders had recommended taking the whole balcony structure up to clean/inspect - and in one case replace - the underlying flat roof at very substantial cost. Steve did a more local and limited investigation at a much lower cost and showed me that the fabric of the flat roof was actually fine - the issue was more subtle. He talked me through the issue and demonstrated his thinking - it all made perfect sense. He applied a simple fix and invited me to get back in touch if it didn?t work. He was knowledgeable and reliable. I think he is new to the ED Forum - he has a fair bit of very positive feedback on CheckaTrade. Really honest chap who knows his stuff.
  3. John Marx of 'Top Marx' recently fitted our new kitchen in Dulwich Village. The kitchen units were bought relatively cheaply from DIY Kitchens, but John's expert fitting means the end result looks superb. John also made custom components for us, including a bespoke boiler cupboard. John was an absolute pleasure to have in the house and went above and beyond to help us to get the result we wanted. His advice was excellent and John was also able to recommend other local tradesmen to help with our electrics and redecoration. John charges very fairly for his work - perhaps too fairly! We count ourselves very fortunate indeed to have found John. Would enthusiastically recommend that you get a quote from John. John can be reached at [email protected].
  4. Another vote for Tony. Tony came out on a Monday night to fix a new tap. He came when he said he would, was really chatty and nice and quickly sorted out the new tap. He gave good advice and charged only the call out fee. I will definitely be contacting Tony again (www.onlyfluesandhoses.co.uk).
  5. Niko fixed a leaking pipe for me and also a leaking tap. He replied promptly to text messages, came when he said he would, was efficient and polite, and gave me good, clear advice. Recommended.
