  1. On the flip side, I used to feel a little bothered when my daughter insisted on pink. When I dressed her I'd put her in all sorts of colours (including pink, but not privileged more than other colours). Now, I'm just happy when I've persuaded her to dress warmly enough for the season!
  2. Dressing up outfits? Good to have a collection. My daughter loves the random fabrics the best.
  3. My busy experience was on a Friday at the beginning of January, the week before the schools went back: never again! Other times it's been fine.
  4. Yes, completely fine UNLESS you go during the school holidays. I made this mistake once and it was a nightmare. Have been quite a few times now (with pushchair) and I'd say that in the week during term time it is fine (though there can be a lot of school kids in the morning, which is also fine as long as you don't need the loo at the same time they are going). There were a few steps I had to carry the pushchair up. I can't remember if that was because the lift was broken that day. There are a lot of ups and downs but there are generally lifts available, though again I seem to recall they were pretty slow.
  5. This has been doing the rounds but I do think it's the scariest one I've seen this year: http://metro.co.uk/2015/10/30/call-off-the-search-weve-officially-found-the-scariest-halloween-costume-of-the-year-5471834/ And a quite a local sign she's holding ;-)
  6. I'm pretty sure 8.15am is the earliest. I booked my follow up scans at the first appointment and always chose the first slot of the day - less waiting.
  7. I stopped taking my daughter to particular friends' places unless unavoidable and explaining why when she asked for a playdate ("remember what happened last time? We're not going because of what happened'"). I didn't do this to punish her but because I genuinely couldn't face the fallout when it was time to go home. Because this wasn't a particular strategy on my part I was surprised that she quickly 'got' it and would promise to behave if she could have the playdate - and when I eventually gave it another go a month or so later she was much better behaved (if not the perfect angel).
  8. Ditto, all good for arrangements and 28th. Thanks again for organising effers.
  9. My then two year old was a little bored and my partner had to take her out towards the end because she was being too fidgety. We took her as much because we didn't have child care as for her to see her sibling. They have two waiting areas there and both contain kids toys. I think it's pretty normal for kids to come along.
  10. I did a lot of research on this during my first pregnancy. I work 3 days a week as a permanent employee and 2 days a week as a freelancer. In the end I deducted that I could continue to work the 2 days a week as a freelancer as I was getting no maternity pay for those days. As DaveR says, keeping in touch days relate only to the days you work for a salary which brings in maternity pay. I spoke to someone in the tax office to confirm I'd understood correctly, because I didn't want to make a mistake, and they had no idea but verbally agreed I'd got it right. I couldn't get them to confirm this in writing though.
  11. It is awful. After trying methods like the above we then offered the syringe (forget the spoon) for her to take it 'voluntarily', after feeding it to her dolls. Knowing the alternatives, she would sometimes take the chance to be in control. For a course of treatment that might require three or four doses daily over several days, this didn't work each time (there's no panacea, if you pardon the pun). We once visited every pharmacy in Camberwell looking for alternative flavours to no avail (I mean, aniseed flavour for kids, really?).
  12. Hi all, just to say I'm still looking (Stella doesn't have places at the mo). Any recommendations would be very gratefully received! Thank you.
  13. Hi all, I'm looking for a childminder to look after my 9 month old when I go back to work at the beginning of April. Would be very grateful for recommendations by PM. Thank you!!
