“Maybe a CPZ isn’t needed but it sounded as though you were complaining at the loss of a few parking spaces - this suggests parking pressure is already high, if so a CPZ could be a solution for that. “ let’s be fair and balanced here! It would appear that the “complaint” was initiated by a local business whose large vehicles were blocking a road, due to loading/unloading. The council’s response to this local business’s complaint is to permanently remove the parking facility for other vehicles, to enable said business to load/unload in that very location! My point and observation was that DYLs appeared to be a fixed, permanent solution to what I thought was a temporary problem! (As in the Lorrie’s/vehicles don’t usually block the road for hours/days/weeks on end to load or unload and could be viewed as a temporary inconvenience to motorists). I could be wrong, but that was my initial thought. To allude that there may already be “parking pressure” based on my post and suggest the solution to this non-verbalised problem is a CPZ, seems a little mischievous to me!

I’m not sure how a CPZ or DYLs is the solution for large Lorrie’s/vehicles blocking a road loading and unloading? I believe that was the reason stated for requesting DYLs at the end of a road. How has it progressed to a CPZ being needed?

😂 Yes, Dastardly would be proud of this manoeuvre! (Laughs in Muttley voice)!

Reading the Decision Document, it does seem like the DYL is being implemented for the benefit of just one particular business that blocks the road with their large vehicles, whilst loading and unloading building materials. I’m pretty sure that the road isn’t usually blocked for extended periods of time, but having DYLs would permanently remove parking spaces for shoppers and residents.

Oh right, thank you. So this would mean the DYLs would be from LL extended right along to 3M pass no 2 Bawdale, if I’ve understood it correctly. That’s one hell of an extension!
-
I’ve just seen this notice for extending DYL’s but I’m confused as to how long the extension will be. Is it going to be from LL to no.2 Bawdale Road? Or 3M from no 2 Bawdale Road? i) add new lengths or extend existing lengths of ‘DYLs’ (i) in ASTBURY ROAD west side opposite Nos. 3 and 5 Astbury Road (5m), (ii) in BAWDALE ROAD on both sides south-east of its junction with Lordship Lane (22m on the side of No. 157 Lordship Lane, 3m o/s No. 2 Bawdale Road, and 10m opposite No.2 Bawdale Road),

I remember after Jones & Higgins closed, it was turned into Ezekiel. A nightclub with three floors playing a different genre of music on each floor. When this closed, it was vacant for a long time before opening as a music venue again. It’s great that something’s being done with this beautiful building. Not sure what would be the best use of the building though.

Popped in there earlier today and picked up Doritos advertised as 2 packs for £3.20 At the checkout the cashier insisted it was £2 each. Spoke to the Manager who insisted all the crisps and snacks pricing were wrong and the offers were finished!!! Just paid for my fabric softener and left the shop. They shouldn’t be allowed to do that!

After finding Greg’s details on this forum, I want to agree 100% with the positive feedback that everyone has given. Greg had to re-plumb the pipework to my shower, after a previous plumber made such a mess of it and he did an amazing job refitting the pipes, shower, tiles and flooring. Really appreciate the excellent work Greg did and like other posts here, I would highly recommend him!

Car moved without permission and left blocking road by telecom engineer

Thanks Abdabs that sounds pretty reasonable. Just think they took the mick as my car could have been towed and apparently I could have been fined for parking dangerously if the car was left there for the whole day if I hadn't seen them! -
Car moved without permission and left blocking road by telecom engineer

Can anyone advise on traffic law? My car was parked outside my home and was moved by telecom engineers to access a public highway cable pit. No notice was given regarding works to be carried out and they were not authorised to shove my car at an angle into the middle of the road. After they had completed the work they left my car blocking the road and disappeared!I saw the engineer in the morning on my way to work and he denied that he moved the vehicle, so I contacted the customer service number for the company and reported it. They advised that they would send the area manager around immediately to check what was happening. They didn't. After 2 and a 1/2 days of emailing the telecommunications company their subcontractors contacted me to admit liability for moving the car and then suggested I email their claims department regarding any car damage. My question is, by moving a vehicle, leaving it blocking a busy road, have they broken any specific laws that I should present against them for doing that? They have put nothing in writing to me as yet regarding admitting to moving and leaving the car in a dangerous position in the road, as this was admitted over the telephone. Any advice as to how I should proceed with this organisation would be appreciated.

Mmmmmmm...A state of mind indeed! I'll remember that when I'm out walking!
