  1. Some background info here: https://medium.com/@xciv/southern-rail-transport-secretary-misleads-passengers-1371dd775ab0#.p7p4x5miw - quite an interesting read.
  2. Another great move today by Joseph. Took a van load of stuff from ED to Wimbledon. He was on time and very helpful. Good price too.
  3. I know people trying to re-let a flat, everyone is being put off by the appalling train service. They can't understand why it's so bad for Zone 2!
  4. 5 day strike announced, probably won't affect ED as its DOO already (Driver Only Operation) but may cause mayhem at London Bridge. http://www.rmt.org.uk/news/members-updates/role-of-the-guard-and-extension-of-doo--southern-gtr280716/?preview=true

  7. @rahrahrah Yes I know, but I thought he would be interested as it effects a lot of Londoners... who voted for him!
  8. Just had a p*ss poor reply from Mayor of London!! Dear xxxx, Thank you for your email of 5 July 2016 to the Mayor about your experience with the Southern train service. Unfortunately, Southern trains are not run by Transport for London (TfL) and it is therefore not within the Mayor's remit to address these issues. The Mayor recognises the impact that the poor levels of service on the commuter franchises are having on rail users and that this has been going on for far too long. The Mayor continues to press for the long awaited transfer of suburban rail services to TfL to be made a priority. This will allow the Mayor to set tougher standards of performance and help ensure those standards are met by providing passengers with more frequent services and new, longer trains. In the meantime, you will need to continue your dispute with the train operating company concerned. Southern can be contacted directly via: http://www.southernrailway.com/p/contact-us/ or by telephone on 03451 27 29 20. You can also make a formal complaint to the London Travel Watch, who can be contacted by writing to the following address: London TravelWatch 6 Middle Street LONDON EC1A 7JA Email: [email protected] Telephone: 020 7505 9000 London Travel Watch is the official watchdog organisation representing the interests of transport users in and around the capital. They can assist with complaints about transport services in London where the service provider has not satisfactorily resolved them. I hope this helps you. 10. 1740 seems to have been added from London Bridge to ED, was only 4 carriages today though!
  11. 0655 was not really much different to normal, and was the traditional 2 minutes late.
  12. Aiming to get the 0655, will let you know! 1 train an hour in Zone 2! No wonder North Londoners take the pi** out of South Londoners 😆
  13. Reply from Harriet Harman.. Dear Daniel, Thank you for your email regarding Southern Rail services and the new timetable starting on Monday 11th July 2016. I have today written to Charles Horton, the CEO of Govia Thameslink Railway, who are responsible for operating Southern Rail, to express my serious concern about the introduction of this timetable. This dramatic and sudden loss of service is simply unacceptable. I attach a copy of the letter for you. I know that many constituents already suffer from Southern Rail?s ongoing disruptive, poor and unpredictable service, and because of this I will now be urging the Government to strip Govia Thameslink Railway of its franchises in advance of its renewal date. I have sponsored EDM 298 ? Govia Thameslink Franchise Review, expressing dismay at the unacceptable level of service provided by Southern Rail and Thameslink. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future. Best wishes, Harriet

  16. The "changes" don't take effect until Monday 11th July, hence you are seeing those trains to Beckenham Junction today!! ianr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > >Here's the revised timetable details: > > Highlights for ED commuters are: > > 1.No more services between Beckenham Junction > and London Bridge - none. > > That doesn't actually seem to be so. 19. From a post on their Facebook site.. All DD will be transferred over to Everyone Active and you will be receiving letters in the post to advise of this and other relevant information. Information is still limited at the moment as we have not yet officially taken over the contracts. Hope this helps. Kind Regards,EA https://www.facebook.com/everyoneactive/posts_to_page/ (2nd post, 3rd comment down).
  20. Has anyone had a GetLDN magazine through the door today? It looks quite good, full of offers at local businesses. Might try it at the weekend for a meal out. Think there's an app too.
  21. Use this at home to extend Wifi, works really well: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1286627.htm Just plugs in to a wall socket, half way between router and where you need better coverage.
  22. The 0705 from Denmark Hill to Blackfriars is usually rammed, I am guessing the 0805 wouldn't be much better!
