  1. Aaron just finished boarding and plastering our kitchen. He did a great job. His work is extremely tidy and corners are very close to right angles. Also, it took little prep work to decorate his walls and they were easy to work on, as they had a really professional finish. I believe those are the trademarks of a top plasterer. He is also a nice guy with a diverse music taste, so he can be left in charge of the playlist as well. Highly recommend.
  2. I just had Billy out for the annual boiler check-up on a system he designed and implemented from scratch. When things are just working you tend to take them for granted, but you really should appreciate the skill and experience leading to solutions with longevity. In our case his solution has now been running without any problems for 4 years and the performance has been excellent. It has stand the test of time...
  3. We have been several times, fantastic food and Dioni & Jose are really lovely people. A real neighbourhood gem. Spanish Particular [email protected] 07513675594
  4. We recently had Dave around to look at a blocked external drain, it turned out that our ancient gully drain was cracked - explaining a damp problem we had been chasing for some time. Dave fixed everything, so hopefully our house is now ready to cope with autumn weather. Dave is a really nice guy and gets thing done quickly and efficiently - happy to recommend.
  5. I recently had Tom fitting a Dinesen solid oak floor, old school bespoke floor fitting where skills matter. I am very pleased circumstances lead me to him. I found Tom?s name on the forum where he had received excellent reviews for his work, but arguably those jobs had not challenged Tom to his full potential. As Tom put it on his website: ?Wood Floorers specialise in fitting high end, bespoke hardwood floors?, and judging from his work, this is exactly what he was born to do. Tom has an excellent eye for details and takes ownership of the job, in fact he takes ownership beyond his job, which I very rarely come across. So not only was he concerned about delivering his part of a bigger picture to a very high standard, he went beyond his job to compensate for mistakes made by others to secure the best possible overall job. If only more tradesmen behaved like this renovation projects would be far less stressful. Tom is also a nice chap and very easy to have in your house. Arguably he has bit of a professional ego, as in he knows best. I am happy to say that I have been unable to prove him wrong, so if anybody are looking for a top quality floor fitter, I would at least invite Tom around for a chat. Have a look at his webpage: http://www.woodfloorers.com/ or feel free to PM me if you want to see pictures of his work.
  6. After having Rob Payne transforming the exterior of our house last year with a fantastic brick pointing/cleaning project, we thought we would ask him back to work his magic on two of our chimney breasts. He removed all the old plaster, pointed and cleaned the chimney breasts and in the process completely transformed the rooms, see attached pictures. He is extremely professional, knowledgeable, has attention to details and he is very reasonably priced. Robert Payne, mobile: 07577089393, email: [email protected]
  7. Patryk and his boys recently installed surface drains in front of our house to catch rainwater from our sloping driveway and connected the gutter on the front door roof to it. They did a great job and were very efficient. He is clearly in great demand as we had to wait a bit for him to do the job, but in the end it was well worth the wait. Another strong recommendation from us.
  8. We recently had Billy and Scott Hunter around to fit a few additional radiators. They have installed all parts of our heating and hot water system over several phases and as previously they did a great job. Top professionals with attention to details so I can highly recommend them.
  9. I second this recommendation. JSJ was quick to come around to quote, was punctual and delivered a good stable scaffold perfect for my project. While busy they still offered a solution that suited my tight schedule. Contact details: 0749 710 4244
  10. In our battle to win back control over our garden we recently had Hamish Lodge of Cut Above Tree Management come by to take down some trees and thin others to create more space and allow the sun into our rear garden. He is clearly a very knowledge tree surgeon and passionate about his job and he had a great eye for finding the right balance between cutting things back and keeping the overall balance of garden. This is the second time we have used his services and on both occasions we have been very pleased with the result and impressed by his professionalism. 11. We just had a new 32mm MDPE water supply pipe installed by External Moling Services. They were responsive from first contact and unlike some of the other companies we contacted they were available to do the job within less than a week! The work looks good and was reasonably priced. 12. We recently had Jason Hart of Master Plumbers around to completely renovate two bathrooms and a toilet room. Particular one of the bathrooms was a fairly complex project but Jason and his team delivered an excellent result with great attention to details. Master Plumber is a small company which relies on sub-contractors for larger projects with tasks outside plumbing, but we found that everybody involved delivered work of a high standard (particular does electrician Pete Davey, 0790 090 3861, deserve to be mentioned). When necessary Jason also did a good job managing the project and he clearly has a good eye for getting the best out of a room (in an old house rooms can be a bit quirky). Jason is a smart person who quickly picks up on ideas which was one of the main reasons we selected Master Plumber ? after all some of the materials for a bathroom can be semi complex and costly so we wanted somebody we were comfortable would understand and get it right first time around ? Jason certainly did so. I think Jason is a particular strong candidate if you are contemplating a slightly complex bathroom project and you are prepared to give him some freedom in getting things done, in which case I would highly recommend having a chat with him on: 0788 056 6400, www.master-plumbers.co.uk.
  13. Shortly after having moved into our old Victorian house we realised that the surveyor had not been kidding when we he wrote ?Substantial repointing of brickwork is now required.? in our building survey as we witnessed water running down internal walls during a heavy shower. Quickly questioning the sanity of our purchase we went to the EDF for solutions to our problem and came across a promising prospect called Robert Payne who received rave reviews and worked with lime mortar (as Victorian house novices we considered this a requirement based on our intense studies of The Victorian House Manual). Rob quickly came by to admire our internal waterfalls and offered a shoulder to cry on. We knew we had found the right person for the job the moment we meet him and immediately stop the search. As things turned out not only had we been lucky enough to find a talented Stonemason, Rob has also offered invaluable advice as we opened Pandora?s Box in the form of our renovation project. Perhaps most importantly, however, Rob has exceeded our expectations by transforming our house from an ugly duckling to a swan where we initially saw the project more as a dull water proofing exercise. Rob takes pride in his work, has extreme attention to details, and has worked tirelessly throughout the project. His professional attitude and the high standards of his work has been inspirational. The only problem is that Rob is a one man army and has a very good reputation so as they say: early booking is strongly advised ? patients will, however, be rewarded! Contact details: Robert Payne, Stone Rejuvenation, 0757 708 9393 or http://www.stonerejuvenation.co.uk/.
  14. We recently had Billy Hunter and his brother Scott around to upgrade our heating system and install an unvented hot water system. From the initial contact it was clear that Billy has extreme attention to detail and takes pride in his work ? exactly the profile you want to install the pipe infrastructure in your house. We received excellent advice in the design phase and he was always responsive on our enquiries taking the time to explain technical aspects. The installation was completed on time, to a very high standard and at the quoted price. As an extra bonus they are also hard working and really lovely chaps to have around. We have previously also had dad, Nigel Hunter, around who matched his son?s excellent work. We are very happy to have stumbled across the Hunter heating clan. For your speed dial: 0798 629 6453!
