  1. I'm sure you're right! I just can't compare having not had that kind of upbringing.
  2. Hi all, I volunteer for an organisation called Drugsand.me and we run workshops for parents of teenagers who are wondering how to speak to their kids about drugs. I grew up in E Dulwich myself and from my experience growing up in London I was exposed to drugs like cigarettes, weed and alcohol much earlier than might have been the case had I grown up outside of the city. Luckily I had an open and honest relationship with my parents which meant that I could talk to them about these experiences and navigate a safe path through this difficult landscape. This event focuses specifically on techniques and ways of talking to young people, so as to open a dialogue and empower them to make informed and educated decisions. The event is only ?7 for a two hour workshop so is really good value for money! Link to the event is below, please let me know if you have any questions. 3. Are you a small business that would benefit from an increased social media presence? Everyone is expected to be on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook these days, but understandably not every small business owner has the time or inclination to manage their own online presence. If this sounds like you, then we should talk! My name's Tarn and I live in Dulwich. I'm 25 and have two years experience working in social media and content marketing for a media agency. Currently I'm earning my living as a freelance journalist and social media manager whilst I complete my postgraduate studies. I have experience managing social media on a macro and micro scale - most recently I managed the accounts of Nut Blend, a small up and coming nut butter business. I am adept in photography, copywriting and videography and would love to help bring your business' personality to life online! If this sounds like something you might be interested in, feel free to call me for a chat. My phone number is 07477580501
  4. Hi! Do you still live in Dawson's Heights? I'm a student looking to speak to some people from the building and would love to hear from you if so. Feel free to send me a PM :) Tarn
  5. Hi, I realise that I am a few years too late to give a timely response to this post, but I stumbled across it and couldn't resist messaging. I'm a postgraduate student researching the history of Dawson's Heights and I wondered where you found this information about the heights being named after a local brick factory? Warm regards, Tarn
  6. Hi, I'm a journalism student doing a research project on Dawson's Heights - I guess you could say that it's a kind of social history. I'm looking to speak to current and ex-residents of the building. In particular, I'd be really interested to speak to people that have lived/live in a council/housing association owned flat, people that bought their flat using right to buy, and people who are looking to buy in the building/have bought in the building privately in the last 5 years. My interest in the building stems from an interest in the history of social housing generally, but Dawson's Heights in particular for it's interesting background (designed by architect Kate Mackintosh in the late 60s/70s) and also because I grew up nearby and have visited the estate many times. Looks forward to hearing from you!

  8. Wow really? When did you stop being able to do that?
  9. Haha doah, you wouldn't think I've spent my whole life here...
  10. Hi everyone, I'm writing a listicle for a London publication with the title 'you know you grew up in East Dulwich when...' So far I have: You know that the best view of London can be found from Dawson?s Heights field or Nunhead reservoir You supported Dulwich Hamlet FC before they were cool You've probably lied about being from Peckham at least once You bought all your gifts at either ED or Willow on Lordship Lane Interested to hear your suggestions!
  11. Hi all, I'm a lifelong ED resident and journalist - looking to talk to a therapist about personal experiences with romantic/erotic transference (anonymously, if you prefer). This is for Broadly (Vice) Please get in touch. Tarn

  13. My black Dr Marten shoes (size 5) were stolen by a middle aged white guy in a grey wooly jumper and black hipster glasses. I briefly left them in a plastic bag unattended by the self service checkout at Sainsbury's local on Lordship Lane before he helped himself, at 7.20pm yesterday. I am very fond of those shoes and have had them for a long time. Who ever he is, he's been caught on CCTV. If anyone knows who this might be then please get in contact.
  14. Would the middle aged white guy in a grey wooly jumper and black hipster glasses who helped himself to my dr martens (size 5) at 7.20pm yesterday please return them?? I left them unattended in a plastic bag by the self service checkout (Sainsbury's local Lordship Lane) for about 3 minutes before remembering them and turning around, but by that point he'd nabbed them and left the shop. I am very fond of those shoes and have had them for a long time. Who ever he is, he's been caught on CCTV, I have reported to the police and I will be keeping an eye out around the area. If anyone knows who this might be then please get in contact.
