  1. How often do people get their houses serviced? Someone put a leaflet about house checks through my letter box the other day. It looks really good - for £25 a month they’ll come every 6 months to check everything in your house is working ok and doesn’t need mending or replacing so you don’t have to worry about checking things yourself, like lifting up the carpet to check the underlay is working or if the thermostats dials are moving as expected. And if something needs doing, for a fixed fee of £150 they’ll sort it out (materials extra).

  2. I have just the thing for crusty white bread - craft butter! I’ve been making small batch craft butter artisian wrapped in muslin and hand tied - I’ll be selling it at the Cheese Block and also at my new pop-up stall on North Cross Road on Saturdays. It’s called ‘Bob’s Best Butter’.
  3. Just thinking ahead to 6th Form options for my youngest in case he can’t get into a local 6th Form such as Charter East, Charter North, or Kingsdale because their published admission number is just 30 each for external applicants. I was wondering about one of the Central London colleges like Westminster Kingsway, City of Westminster, or CANDI - do any local 16-18s go to those Central London colleges?

  5. I got a great new cheese knife from the smelly French cheese stall in Borough Market - it?s a diamond cut Japanese steel cheese knife with a double serrated edge that obliquely cuts the cheese to bring out the flavour. And it?s cunningly made to look like a normal dinner knife so you don?t feel pretentious when using it. And it was reduced from ?99 to ?75! And it came in a recycled cardboard presentation box.
  6. I also really like the artisan small batch seeded sourdough loaves that the bread stall at Borough Market does and they?re only ?14 per loaf - I like to compare and contrast them with the Saturday bread from North Cross Road.
  7. Quail too. The cheese bridge is made of ?dry? plywood which helps the cheese flavours to peak when left at room temperature - and it was only ?150 from that vintage cheese stall in Borough Market.
