  1. Can anyone recommend a local company for groundworks? The alleyway up the side of my house was partially in-filled with soil by the last owner and it's causing a lot of damp problems inside the house. I need the alleyway digging out down to 150mm below the floor level inside the house.
  2. I'm looking for someone to help with levelling my back garden (it's already reasonably flat), creating some new flowerbeds and reseeding or turfing a lawn. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
  3. Paul Morris from Abbey Independent Surveys. 01572 774398 or 07714 659616. He offered us some low cost solutions which have worked. I know he does a lot of restoration work for the National Trust so he understands historic building practices including those which were used in your average London Victorian terraced house. The survey isn't free but you will get an honest opinion verses the free survey guys who come round and tell you to inject every wall in your house for ?10,000s.
  4. Hanzon 247 Ltd, 07979187247 Cheap and cheerful. Speak to Hani. I used them 3 weeks ago after finding them on Shiply. I got a very pleasant man with a van who was happy to help with lifting, etc. for 3 hours for ?60.
  5. Local as in London based and deals with residential conveyancing, I'd recommend http://www.unsworthrose.co.uk/. They will not be the cheapest but they will look after you unlike the conveyancing sausage factories which most people opt for. As with everything in life: you get what you pay for.
  6. Follow up on this post: another recommendation for Nick who just finished fitting some cast aluminium gutters on my house in Brockley. Very patient to deal with given my guttering supplier screwed up the order first time round. I'll happily use for future roofing jobs.
