  1. I dunno....I think there are a lot of things you can control in terms of baby sleep habits, but the early morning wake has always been something that has challenged us too. We used to have a 6am start time when oldest son was 1ish and had recently started sleeping through - we would try try try to hold out till 6 no matter how loud the shouting. Lately it's more like 6.30 but he invariably wakes earlier and just bangs/sings etc - he very rarely gets upset. Not looking forward to putting him in a bed though....I'm sure we will see more of him then...
  2. Hello sailor - yes - I think this is the reason I do want to get some food in my littlest because he has fitted nicely into napping at 9 and at 1, therefore lunch has replaced his 1pm ish feed. He's not been feeding well at all recently either - I'm hoping he's the world's most efficient feeder as he seems to feed so little - I do offer and he doesn't ask.

If he completely refused lunch I'd prob try to feed him before his nap, yes. I know ideally milk would have stayed the same until solids more established but it just wasn't working with combining 2 childrens eating and sleeping routines and him going longer in between sleeps.

  3. In two seat mode for children who don't really need to sleep in the buggy anymore I think the phil and ted's are just great, if a little heavy up kerbs. They are not bad in baby toddler mode either.

The explorer is the newest 'standard' model 9Sport/dash/E3 all older). It folds with the add on seat removed, but the add on seat does fold fairly flat. It is not a small fold, even with the wheels off. I believe the verve and vibe fold in one.

Have you looked at the Britax B dual? It is pretty big/wide but I know some people rate it and it is much more affordable than the icandy tandems.

  4. Good to hear all the viewpoints. I know there are lots of advocates for BLW here - one of the reasons I did it last time - it's just I now have a 2.5 yr old who will pretty much only eat pasta - maybe I messed up along the way but I just NEED to have a child who eats more normally this time!! I think I am finding it frustrating as smallest WILL eat yoghurts and fruity stuff and opened his mouth like a baby bird for a plum fromage frais - yum - but not my vegetable efforts. And I see signs of his brother (he also happily chomped on some tomato pasta this evening) and I just want him to be able to eat, say, shepherds pie. So how do I get there if the little monkey won't eat my food?!?
  5. Eating and sleeping. Both so important and both so tricky and complex!! And in later life - both SO enjoyable.

My 2.5 yr old can detect a tiny speck of broccoli even when hidden in a pesto style pasta sauce. He studies everything he eats and demands 'OUT' when he spots a foreign ingredient. They are so weird.

  6. Smallest sb is already wise to my meanest trick - give him a rice cake, he opens his mouth for it, I shove spoon in. And this is from a previous BLW devotee. Trouble is BLW is no freakin' good if they won't pick up the tempting(!) fruit and veg.

Won't even eat cereal or porridge. Tsk.

  7. Just a rant. It is SO dispiriting! 7m old is just not interested, refuses to eat ANYTHING I make for him. Will tolerate fruity purees and yoghurts and the odd ellas pouch. Will only pick up rice cakes and toast - just looks at everything else in disgust. I'm not worried just frustrated - esp as he's not keen on bf during the day, mostly because life is v interesting and his brother does all in his power to distract him.

BABIES!! Having gone slightly unsuccessfully down the BLW route with first son I wanted a little annabel karmel baby who would eat my lovely purees!

  8. Who knows, really?!? My 2.5 yr old has had his on since he was 9m old (never taken off - he now likes the surf boy look!) and he has had no problems with teething at all. First teeth at 10m and his last molars are coming through now I discovered tonight and I didn't even notice. But who knows whether teething for him just wasn't a big deal? My 7m old has just got one from the Amber Shop in Southwold in Suffolk - am hoping for a similar effect!!
  9. Saffron - the 15kg limit is not necessarily such. I can't remember the details but I think that in Europe buggies are only tested to 15kg - hence the limit. Check the weight limits for exactly the same strollers on US sites for instance - Maclaren state's the quest is suitable up to 55lb (so, what, 25kg?) in the States - can't see that the US buggy is any different....
  10. Maybe it's just me!! But some cool prams on their way - a double tandem micralite, a babyzen single that looks like a bee, a baby jogger city mini with adjustable handle and airfilled tyres and a new city mini with parent facing seat!! Too exciting...
