I've been hit by both a car from the 70's(1984) and a modern car(2013)....and trust me, they both bloody hurt!

Personally I think the design looks good, as well as the fact they only take up half a car parking space whilst providing secure, extremely cheap parking for 6 bikes & equipment is also a huge benefit. As a supposed 'cyclist' yourself surely any system that facilitates bike use is nothing but a positive???

They're not just 'bolted down', holes are drilled into the paving stone and road at the four corners, the hole is filled with Chemfix(a chemical anchor) then rods are fixed into the chemfix, the hangar is then fixed to the rods using 'shear nuts' to prevent removal/tampering with the hangar. The council don't charge people to use it, Cyclehoop do though but the rent is pretty low. The hangars are only normally installed when there is an existing demand from local residents......i.e. in Hackney some of the hangars have 40+ people wanting a place!

Love the bike hangars, what a brilliant idea, anything that facilities healthier lifestyles and less pollution is great in my book. What would be there in its place???.yet another angry, costly, air polluting car thats what. Get a bike & start to LIVE!
