  1. electric motorbike....hmmmm...not sure how I feel about that!
  2. That is just crazy! Well mine's now parked back on the road, I don't plan to test the wardens in my area.
  3. Harleys are like Scooters to me, TOTALLY off my 'bike-dar'.
  4. Bike club could be good. Unfortunately Harley's are against my religion (biking religion that is)
  5. I want a shirt that says, "if you can read this, my bike bitch fell off", but I love those other options PeckhamRose. I certainly don't wear just a t-shirt, I quite like putting on my armour, all black, and then taking to the streets. Only have one body and prefer it in one piece! intexasatthemoment - I would love to see a picture of the pram/sidecar, sounds amazing, if not totally illegal now! lol
  6. That's classic PeckhamRose and thank you. I wish there was a child friendly sidecar I could invest in. More often than not it's other people that keep pregnant women off bikes. But I am looking forward to relaxing summer rides while bubs spends time with it's dad. And perhaps the 'white noise' to settle bubs will be me revving my engine a little! I would absolutely display a sticker like that!
  7. KidKruger, can you explain mothballing? At the moment I'm just seeing it stuck on the street under a cover until I get back in the saddle as it where. spinach, yes, I was parking next to a scooter, but it wasn't parked there all the time and it was during one of it's abscences that my bike was taken out. It would be great if there was a general bike area set up where you could park for safety as well as perhaps meet fellow riders in the area.
  8. Well if pregnancy was a permanent condition, it would be surplus to requirements, but luckily it's not. And I'm quite looking forward to pursuing motherhood with a motorbike. Life isn't about to end. I didn't realise it was definitely illegal to park on the footpath, there are lots of bikes around that do. But I won't do that again. Thank you for your offer DJKillaQueen, but we managed to move it last night to a side road, parked on the road. Whether it's safer or not is yet to be seen.
  9. Yeah, I have a disc lock, a chain lock through the back wheel and a strong bike lock through the cover as well. It was actually chained to the front fence, but it was still knocked over this morning. oh well.
  10. I think I will move asap. I can't really move it easily being on a hill, and I certainly wasn't able to attempt lifting it this morning, but I shall try and take it round the corner and park it in another street. Shame I won't notice as easily if it gets stolen. Never had my petrol nicked, but how can you really stop that?
  11. Oh and no, I'm not of the bike outside the Mansions. Wasn't sure if you were allowed to footpath park or not, but I'm guessing not?
  12. My bike was parked on the footpath because it was knocked over badly by a van when parked on the street. They didn't stop, but luckily someone saw who it was. It is also isn't possible to keep it in my front yard, just doesn't fit. I'm 5 months pregnant so it's not going to be easy to move it elsewhere, but I can't bear it being knocked over again.
  13. Just wanted to report than my bike was found knocked over this morning. It was parked on the footpath, which makes me think it was deliberate. I'm on Overhill Road, just wondering if anyone else in the area has suffered the same? Am now thinking of hiring driveway space from someone to keep it out of harms way.
  14. Thanks for all the advice! Its great. I was thinking of getting a Silver Cross 3D, but still undecided. We don't have a car and live in a basement flat. Will definitely look into 2nd hand, sounds like the way to go.
  15. Hello, My better half and I are in the process of trying to pick a pram for our impending bundle of joy's arrival next June. We went to JL and had a good look around yesterday, as well as M&P's, but it's hard to know what's good and what's just marketing. As there are so many pram users in ED, I thought I'd ask if anyone has any recommendations? Good brands? Models? Size? What's easy to use etc etc Any bad feedback? If you have a pram and a minute to spare, all input would be recommended. Ideally we'd like a bassinet style to start, moving to an upright for later on. thanks.
  16. Why don't they just cut them down and be done with it? Last year the trees were hacked back to within an inch of their life, which seemed to be done for no obvious reason, and now just look like telegraph poles with leaves. If they'd been grown with care and forethought, Barry Road could have enjoyed a canopy of trees rather than what we've been left with. It's not that hard to dodge a few leaves here and there.
  17. Nectar refused to tranfer the points, even though I knew where they'd been spent and mostly when. All because this man had reported the card stolen, and he had the card number, mind you I had MY card! It's a clever scam cause if it's reported stolen, me producing at the store means nothing. Even despite my signature. Livid is an understatement.
  18. Just a warning to anyone starting up a Nectar card from the Sainsburys in East Dulwich. I picked up an application form last November, and was told I could drop it in at the front desk, which I did. About two weeks after booking flights to Australia and putting the points on the card, I enquired as to how many points I now had, after using the card for groceries and over Christmas. I was utterly speechless when I was told by the Nectar 'help' line that my card was stolen and had been cancelled, as it was in my handbag and was certainly my card which I signed when I first got it. They accused me of being the person who's stolen it. Seems that someone scammed my application form and the card was registered by phone in a man's name. Marched up to Sainsburys and demanded an investigation to find out who'd stolen all my points, (which isn't the point, cause my personal details being stolen was my main concern). Was fobbed off with a ?10 voucher and Nectar refused to cancel the points, which the man had by then tranferred to another card. Hopefully won't be donating my flight points to him also!!! So shocked that this could happen at somewhere like Sainsburys....check your details with Nectar, if it's even worth having a card, I'm certainly questioning that.
  19. It's funny, Fosters seems to be an English thing. Living in Sydney, I never knew of anyone who drank it. It's so passe there. But then Adelaide is something (and somewhere) else altogether.
  20. That's funny. I used to live in Dulwich Hill and Lewisham, before I moved here from Australia. So for me it was completely the other way round. Dulwich Hill was a great place to live.
  21. Oh. well you learn something everyday! I didn't know about that. cheers. :)
  22. Does anyone know where you can get Turkish bread from? It's like ciabatta but more plient and aerated. A long bendy loaf. You can't walk into a shop in Australia without tripping over the stuff, but when I've asked here, people just look baffled and I've never seen any in any bread shop. help....breakfasts just aren't the same....
  23. Yes, Italy ruined me for coffee. I did have one last night at a place with a sign that says 'the best coffee in east dulwich?' out the front. But I think the question mark says it all, cause it wasn't.
  24. So, where is all the good coffee in East Dulwich. Can someone point me in the right direction to get a cup of coffee that isn't too hot, too strong, and burnt. Seems everywhere I go is like drinking hot lava in a burnt milk soup..where is the REAL stuff??
