  1. Some info here: http://www.psfk.com/2012/08/olympic-gold-british-mailboxes.html
  2. I have no connection with the missing man but I just wanted to say what lovely, considerate people you all are on this forum for trying to help his family at this traumatic time. Marianne
  3. Depends on postcode. Find out here: http://findyourmp.parliament.uk/
  4. Oh dear! Jessie, I replied in good humour but it appears some people are becoming agitated .... please don't let it upset you ....
  5. The Crooked Well Restaurant is actually in Camberwell/Peckham and while there are some good restaurants in East Dulwich, they are also all around you - Bellenden Road, Peckham, Forest Hill, Sydenham, Crystal Palace. The properties in E.Dulwich are overpriced because they are in Zone 2 but one gets much more for the money in Zone 3. Much larger houses for similar prices and we have Horniman Gardens, Crystal Palace Park and numerous parks in Sydenham, Mayow Park; Wells Park; Baxters Field; Millenium Gardens; Blythe Hill; Kirkdale Green. You have the shops, built up area and congestion and we have the greenery .... and good schools to boot!!
  6. You really are lovely people on this thread - so caring! We now know that she got a 12 to Oxford Circus - a bus driver recalled seeing her at 5am - you would think he could have asked her if she was ok as she had no coat and was wearing slippers .... after that, she must have got on a bus at random as she has no connections with Kilburn. She has an old Freedom Pass which expired in 2006 but no photo to go with it so I can only presume that the drivers were not too fussy. We don't know what she did all day but she ended up in a Turkish cafe where they very kindly fed and watered her and called the police. I intend to thank those lovely people too! Otta, all the doors are alarmed except one fire escape door (she would have had to walk through a long corridor and the kitchen in pitch darkness to get to it) and as she is normally very well looked after I can't be too angry with them - these things happen occasionally - I'm just grateful there was a happy ending to this very long day ... Once again, many thanks for all your support (I got quite a few PMs too). Best wishes Marianne x
  7. Thank you for your kind messages - she doesn't remember where she used to live (Westminster Bridge Road) but the police and members of the family have been driving around the area all day. She has no money and no coat and must be totally confused - I just don't understand why somebody hasn't checked to see if she is ok. Anyway, must remain hopeful, the police have been marvellous. Once again, thanks to you and GSJ57 for your good wishes. Marianne
  8. Just wondering if anyone might have seen my 87 year old mother today. She has alzheimers and went missing from her care home in Barry Road at about 3am this morning. She is 5' tall with white hair, wearing a light blue blouse, navy cardigan and black trousers. Police and bus drivers looking for her but no luck so far. Many thanks Marianne Thanks so much for your kind messages - much appreciated. I am happy to say that she has just been found in Kilburn (!) and is confused but ok and on her way home. The police have been absolutely wonderful.
  9. Overground train from Forest Hill to Canada Water, then Jubilee Line to Stratford. About 30 minutes approx. Marianne
  10. I thought the original purpose of charity shops was to help those in need of help?? People who would like to clothe themselves and their children in fairly decent clothing because they cannot always afford to buy in chain stores and like to dress in reasonably fashionable clothing. Believe it or not, there are still people out there on the minimum wage who need to decide between food and fairly fashionable clothing - this is where charity shops come into their own. Their main purpose should never be merely to make a profit! This was never the original idea of Oxfam et al - although in this materialistic world, perhaps things have changed ....
  11. Not East Dulwich but my post was delivered on Saturday around midday and received a parcel via Parcelforce yesterday - SUNDAY! If my local sorting office can work, don't see why yours can't .... Marianne (Forest Hill/Sydenham border)
  12. Dear of oh dear - perhaps you came into contact with some of the council tentants waiting for their benefits? God forbid! Swine flu, TB oh my god. Perhaps you should stay away from queues in the post office and just stay on line. Avoid any bodily contact. Perhaps you should move to Dulwich Village or Hampstead if you can afford it!!! Jeez, mixing with the common people ..... yuk!!!
  13. 2 million pounds but no garage???????
