Link Age Southwark are looking for a New Chairperson for board of Trustees If you are based locally and would be interested in becoming becoming Chairperson of board of trustees of a very successful local charity, Link Age Southwark has the perfect opportunity for you. Link Age Southwark is an ambitious, vibrant local charity providing friendly volunteer support to over 600 isolated, older people in Southwark. In 2018 they will have been working in Southwark for 25 years, reducing loneliness and isolation and helping older people maintain active lives within the community. Their fantastic volunteers support older people to thrive in later life, through: ? One-to-one befriending visits ? Activity groups with volunteer transport ? Practical support including light gardening and help with odd jobs ? Intergenerational work with local schools Their services are free to all Southwark residents aged 60+, and we also offer specialist free support services for people of any age living with mild to moderate dementia.   3. Join us on Saturday 9th June in the beautiful gardens at 5 Burbage Road. This much photographed garden belongs to a member of The Society of Botanical Artists and features a large and varied range of plants, an immaculate topiary and herb garden. The garden is open from 2-5pm. Tea and homemade cakes. Plant sale. Entry ?4. Children enter free.   4. Join us on Sunday 17th June in the beautiful garden of Bell House for a glass of fizz, canapes and live music in aid of Link Age Southwark. The two acre garden, in the grounds of a large Georgian house of historical significance, includes a walled garden, mature flower beds, rose garden, kitchen garden, woodland walk, shade garden, newly restored front lawn and ha-ha, wildflower meadows and beehives. Sunday 17th June, 6.30pm-8.30pm Bell House, 27 College Road, SE21 7BG No dogs allowed. Cash bar and raffle on the night. Tickets ?25. Includes a glass of champagne on arrival and canap?s.   5. Link Age Southwark is seeking a volunteer clerk to their Board of Trustees who meet every two months to take notes and produce and circulate approved minutes to all trustees. This is a good opportunity who is interested in learning about a fantastic local charity which supports older people throughout Southwark and who is also interested in gaining experience working with a board of trustees. This volunteer would ideally be experienced in note-taking and producing minutes to a high standard, have good English language and communications skills.   6. Link Age Southwark's annual All that Jazz fundraiser returns for its 7th year! Join us for an evening of jazz music performed by the talented pupils of JAGs, Dulwich College, Dulwich London Prep, Kingsdale and The Charter School on Friday 16th March at 7pm. The evening will be held in Holst Hall at JAGs school, 144 East Dulwich Grove, SE22 8TE. There will be a cash bar and raffle on the night.   7. Celebrate the end of dry January by joining Link Age Southwark for our first fundraising event of the year! Thursday 1st February, 7.30pm-9.30pm, Terroirs, Lordship Lane. Terroirs on Lordship Lane are kindly hosting a Wine and Cheese Tasting evening to raise money for older people in the local community. Enjoy 5 wines, all from artisan producers alongside pairings of Italian saucisson and speciality cheeses from Androuet.   8. Christmas is just around the corner, bringing with it the New Year and of course your new year?s resolutions. Make yours count this year by volunteering to prevent loneliness and isolation amongst older people in the local community. Whether you visit someone for a cup of tea once a week, drive an older person to their exercise class or help at one of our activity groups, you will be making a huge difference to the life of an older person in Southwark and your own!   11. Platform 1 are kindly hosting a wine tasting evening in aid of Link Age Southwark. The evening will start at 7pm on Wednesday 27th September, to be held at Platform 1, 71 Lordship Lane, SE22, Tickets are ?25 and includes 5 tasters and an individual cheese / charcuterie board, featuring the produce from Capo Caccia, a Dulwich-based Sardinian produce importer.   12. This drop in is for anyone who is thinking about volunteering and would like to know more about Link Age Southwark and how you could be involved. We have lots of varying volunteering roles from office support, gardening, DIY, driving and befriending an older person. Please do come along and meet our friendly team and have a chat, refreshments will be provided.   14. Come and enjoy this newly redesigned garden, with live music. A makeover was sparked by the death of a beloved apple tree, resulting in a new look for this upside down L-shaped garden. Out with the vegetable patch and in with a gravel garden, a new brick-edged lawn and a white border blooming in the free space. Tea and cake will be available. Plants for sale. Entry ?3.50 in aid of Link Age Southwark, children free. Free street parking, dogs on leads only. Unfortunately the garden isn't suitable for wheelchairs.

Link Age Southwark is hosting a volunteer recruitment fair during Volunteer?s Week, on Wednesday 7th June where you will have the opportunity to meet different local organisations and to discuss volunteering with them. The event by the main entrance of Dulwich Community Hospital, East Dulwich Grove. Drop in between 10am and 1pm.

  19. The All That Jazz concert is back for its 6th fabulous year, brought to you by the pupils of six local schools in Dulwich. On Friday 24th March, join us for an evening of talent and entertainment in aid of Link Age Southwark?s work supporting local older people.   20. Are you passionate about helping older people stay independent and reduce social isolation? Do you have weekday daytime availability? E.g. 2-3 hours either weekly or fortnightly. Link Age Southwark offers friendly volunteer support to older people in Southwark, to combat loneliness and isolation through befriending and social groups. We particularly need help running our social groups in Southwark, particularly in Dulwich, Peckham and Camberwell. We need volunteers to help set up for groups (tables, chairs), prepare and serve refreshments, welcome and talk to people in the group and tidy away at the end. We would also love to hear from anyone wanting to share a skill at a group, e.g. arts and crafts, reminiscence, singing, knitting and so on.
