  1. Thank you so much gatt4950 for the recommendation, I am so glad you love it! More ED pubs and scenes are next on my todo list so may be worth checking my website from time to time. For anyone else who is interested, as well as bespoke commissions, I now have fine art giclee prints in A3 and A4 available from my online shop of The Actress and The Bishop and will be adding the other pubs as I do them. Thanks to everyone who has supported me so far and hopefully I'll be organised enough to be at Artist Open House in 2018! If you're on instagram and fancy seeing what I've been up to please follow @jkendrew https://www.instagram.com/jkendrew/?hl=en
  2. My mum gets some great spuds from farm but that's 3 hours away - maybe I could make a mint selling decent spuds in ED. Talking of fruit though, I am constantly angered by the Hard pears claiming to be 'ripe & ready' at M&S but I must say, I haven't had a bad bag of their satsumas and having done a pretty thorough taste test elsewhere I claim them to be the best locally!
  3. I've only been here a year and was put off by bad reviews on Melbourne Grove (plus not actually sure if they'd have me in catchment area) but I am tempted to jump ship (currently 306 medical centre) as have found it fairly tricky to get a quick appointment - I rang up wanting to see gp about some pregnancy related symptoms and you have to expect a week - a week and a half wait unless you bypass with a call to 111! I also found at 306 in my last appointment i felt like I was being rushed out from the moment I got in - to the point that next patient opened the door on us as doc had obviously pressed button to tell them to come up because she was finished with me (when i hadn't finished talking and had only been 5 mins max) I think it's probably going to be similar in scenario in most of the surgery's round here though, since there are so many people and NHS under so much pressure.
  4. I do the 9am on Saturdays- love it :) Hopefully see some of you there! Jess
  5. Jeremy - Not as of yet - I will def add to the list of pizzas to try! Thanks!
  6. There still isn't a Pizza place that makes my dad as happy as Addomme in Streatham Hill! They do the best pizzas, have to be sourdough, have to be wood fired and light dough and delicious! Franco Manca is good but put me off with their raw garlic on my fave topping - kept me up all night! Haven't tried 400 rabbits yet and this new one does intrigue me somewhat - hopefully it's as good as Addomme so I don't have to drive to Streatham when my parents visit!
  7. It was when I went in last Saturday but there was lots of products on sale and it looked in a bit of disarray so not sure if that is bad news.
  8. I'd be up for an evening in the week or weekend afternoon. Be lovely to meet you all. Jess
  9. Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone has done The Bump and Baby club in East Dulwich before or is going to? I know there are a few and I am confused about what to do, The Group, NCT or Bump and baby club. It would be great to hear any experiences. Thanks so much,
  10. I would very much like to join the Autumn babies group please. I'm due Oct 14th with my first. Thanks! Jess
  11. Thanks so much for the encouragement. I'm working on new ones so will have more on my website and instagram soon! Hopefully I can get a stall on Northcross Road at some point in the future too. Thanks for the suggestions dbboy, I shall add them to the list!
  12. I'm in process of doing some - here's a couple of local pubs I am planning on doing many more as moved into area a year ago and love it so much I want to paint it. I also do paintings for recipes in the Dulwich Diverter if you ever get a copy of that. I am going to do artist open house one year in the future for sure! I have a website too if you want to look at anything else. www.jessicakendrew.com Hope you like my work and thanks for looking.
  13. Hi there, we have a neat white philips sound bar that doesn't seem to work any more. We bought it 3 years ago - is anyone able to repair things like this? Thanks
  14. There used to be a brilliant Italian Deli/Cafe on Farringdon Road, talking about London far flung deli's used to get the best salami from there when I worked around the corner. Was further up from the post office on left. I do love lidl fennel salami but it's not in walking distance and I have to say I do love a nice deli counter with a selection of meats you can have sliced in front of you. Would be good if Cheese Block made more of a deli - they have a few salami's at the back. Everything is so bloomin' expensive though - we don't want a Franklin's deli, would be about a pound per slice!
  15. I am also excited by Mons and although I like the cheese block produce, I have to agree owner and the girl who work there have been pretty unfriendly every time I've been in. We are indeed very blessed with the lovely shops on LL. I wish Franklins was a bit more affordable though - I often walk in and browse, only to walk out again thinking prices are ridiculous. What we really need though is a decent deli! I want a nice meat counter filled with a broad selection of salami's, hams etc. Yum Yum! Hopefully Mons includes this but I doubt it since his speciality is cheese!
  16. Is there a petition or anything that we can start/sign to try and prevent this from happening? I can't understand how a closure of a sorting office can help with a large volume of parcels! Surely they can just change a few post codes to the Peckham one instead and take the pressure off Silvester road. It's such a beautiful building too and would be a crime to see it turned into flats.
  17. I would love some bird action in my back garden but fear there are too many neighbouring cats who prowl around in wait. I put a feeder up in a safe from cats place but it doesn't get any action - is this because it's filled with sunflower seeds and birds think these are boring? Maybe a fat ball will work. I don't want to entice birds into my garden to get pounced on but would love to hear a twitter tweet tweet once and a while. I have seen 3 blue tits since we moved in last Feb (pretty shocking) and a friendly blackbird searching for worms on a more regular occasion.
  18. Hello everyone! A little update for you all - I have found a modern calligraphy tutor who is willing to come and do a workshop in East Dulwich for as little as 5 people - It will be more expensive per person if it's only 5 (I have 7 interested so far) if I can get it up to 10 that will obviously reduce the cost but I am waiting to discuss with the manager of Picture House before I can confirm prices. I think it would be am initial 2-3 hour workshop (again i need to confirm this) and then if enough people love it and are interested we can do a follow up. A starter kit will be included in the cost of lesson to use and to take home. Please bear with me whilst I find out details and I'll come back on here to confrim dates and costs and we can see if we have enough committed people to pull this off :) At this stage I'd imagine first one would be in September. Thanks for everyone's interest so far! Jess x
  19. This is great thanks for letting me know! I have 6 people up for it so far and haven't been asking for long so that bodes well . . . - I have found a willing tutor and am trying to sort out cost so will be sure to update you all when I have more info.
  20. Also - it doesn't look likely due to lack of response on here - but if anyone would be interested in learning the art of calligraphy once a week - if I can find a keen tutor we might be able to hold a weekly evening class at East Dulwich picture house so let me know! Prob would need 6 or more people interested.
  21. Thanks PeckhamNicola I'll have a look, youtube is great but I'd rather do it in person.
  22. I really want to master the art of calligraphy and wondered if anyone has experience in this or knows of any good courses to learn it. Maybe if there are other locals wanting to learn we can find someone who will teach us. Wouldn't it be wonderful to write like this: http://i67.tinypic.com/zyga36.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/16as3o8.jpg http://i63.tinypic.com/2ivkvnl.jpg
  23. If you receive a postal vote card can you still chose to vote on the day or do I have to do a postal vote? Thanks
  24. Damn I am sad I missed this - I didn't know it was on. We went for walk around Nunhead Cemetery when were looking for houses (not in the cemetery obviously) and I found it a wonderful place. I'd love to learn more! Will have to wait til next year.

    Moth trouble

I keep finding them whenever I move stuff. I moved a blanket from off spare bed and 3 moths came out :( They also climbed out the washing basket. It must be the weather that has brought them back so bad this year. Can't wait to set my moth bombs off this weekend - will let you all know how it goes!
