  7. Hi there, Life Drawing again tomorrow night at East Dulwich Community Centre, Darrell Road, SE22 9NL. 6.30-8.30pm. ?12 per session, pay on the evening. All levels welcome. Tutored session, drawing from the nude model. Last week we looked at getting the whole figure to fit in the paper - we had fun and made progress ... We'll try and bear that in mind again tomorrow, whilst looking at different approaches to drawing from the figure, realistic or more abstract.

  11. Hi Everyone Upcoming art exhibition at Avent Gallery, North Cross Road SE22 9EU. 2/3/16 - 16/3/16, daily 10-16pm after we set up on 2/3 afternoon. Amazing abstract calligraphy pieces (mostly on paper, some on rusted metal) by fellow-artist Riaz Sanatian. I think they're stunning, and very very cool. My own oil paintings, check out www.davidhopkinspaintings.co.uk. This time I'm showing paintings of mobile phones, of fruit/veg, of studio objects. Strong rich colours, subtle compositions.

  13. Hi all East Dulwich Drawing Group - life drawing sessions to now run on Weds evenings, 6.30 - 8.30pm. This slot just became available at East Dulwich Community Centre, a better option for most people I think than Thursday mornings (my original slot). Projected 1st class - Weds 23rd March 2016 with proper life model. ?12 per 2hr session, pay on the day. Meanwhile, free Taster Session at EDCC, Sat 20th Feb 12.00 - 12.45pm. Clothed model. David
  14. I'm starting a tutored drawing class at East Dulwich Community Centre, Thursdays 11-1pm in a few weeks' time (in March, start-date to be confirmed). ?12 per two-hour session, pay each time. For local artists / anyone interested to start drawing or keep up their drawing. Free TASTER SESSION Saturday 20th Feb, 12-12.45pm in the Small Hall - on their 'Give and Take' day. Please bring your own materials. Please email me at [email protected] if you're interested in coming on 20/2/16, and/or in joining the class in March. If it gets off the ground we could add other days/times. I've got the venue, I've got a great life model to start us off, easels and drawing boards are on their way. I'll be running the sessions, offering help and guidance. I want it to be a friendly group, but I think untutored drawing sessions tend to lack focus, and people go away a bit unsure whether they've got anything out of it or not. Someone to pull it together is a plus, and I'm stepping up coz I live opposite EDCC and I think a local drawing class would be great! (no reason we can't paint as well except paintings can't be stored there). I'm an experienced painter, did my degree at Central St. Martin's, my website is www.davidhopkinspaintings.co.uk. I've got a few friends/fellow-artists already interested. Come along on Sat 20th Feb - and spread the word!
