  1. We go to Leatherhead quite frequently, and have found there really is no one best way... getting to the A3 through Brixton, Clapham, Wandsworth can sometimes take ages, but equally we found that heading down the Gatwick route via Ikea/Purley to the M25 can be hit and miss, particularly because of the single carriageway beyond the big roundabout bit... on balance, we tend to go via the A3... Haven't tried the A2 route, so may give that a go next time... good luck!
  2. I think recycling is important, no matter whether yours gets collected or you decide to drop it off yourself, but what I do find somewhat irritating is the emphasis Southwark council places on their messaging about what goes into the blue box, what goes in blue bag etc (with stickers on bins, flyers and all sorts of effort) only to then collect paper, glass, plastic in one big bin and dump it all into one big van... (as witnessed in SE15 today). Why not give out adequately sized bins for each of us to put everything recyclable into rather than asking people to make an effort and then ignoring it?
  3. Agree - the recent improvements really have made a difference (and last year's refurb was already quite impressive) and our boy and his friends love it! Would be great if everyone (big and small) would look after the place and put their rubbish in the bins or take it with them. Spent one morning recently picking up far too many cartons, bottles etc... with a couple of bins less than half full. Shame.
  4. My girlfriend at school dumped me quoting Sting of all people... 'if you love somebody, set them free'. Am still upset 20 years later.
  5. Hi - there's a lot of work being done to expand Blackfriars Station. The tube station there will be closed for quite some time but the overland line from Peckham Rye to Blackfriars still runs during normal hours (ie. to and from work) and only takes 10-12min. The 12 and 197 from Barry Rd go via Peckham Rye Station. Alternatively you could get a bus to ED station and then change after one stop but that may take you longer... Alternatively, you could take the 63 bus that runs along Peckham Rye Park and takes about 40min to Southwark tube station, but rush hour around Elephant & Castle may well add to that.
  6. Hi flathunter - for classes I can recommend Push Studios near LL (behind William Rose). No pool but they have just expanded their classes timetable I think, and they have a pay as you go option for their classes. I have been to the pool at Peckham Pulse (next to the library) which is ok (they also have a gym and classes but I haven't been).
