  2. Surely the weekend is the busiest time - swimming on a Sunday is a right mare! I only query a catch as fusion was a not for profit organisation... just curious to find out if the prices of general swim/gym will rise the rest of the week. There's always a catch, but I'm still signing up and do think freebies are great.. Gotta lop off this extra lard!
  3. Not in East Dulwich, but a few ED parents have asked me about Foyles Story Box Festival in Central London - there will be a super fun interactive children's and YA book festival taking place over three weeks across all Foyles shops in London. Join WordPlay on Friday 5th August at the Charing Cross Road branch for the morning OR afternoon to script, perform & broadcast your very own live radio play at Foyles as part of festival! Suitable for ages 8+ In groups, you will be challenged to write your play against the clock, then it's into the studio where you will perform it live and even create your own special sound effects. There will be a morning workshop between 11am-1pm and an afternoon session from 2pm-4pm. Each workshop will conclude with a live broadcast of all the plays for parents and friends to tune in to. All recordings will appear on WordPlay's 'Hear the Plays' feature on the website after the event: http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/ Tickets cost ?12 and you can buy yours from the Foyles website for either session: http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=2925 - morning 11am-1pm http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=2926- afternoon 2pm - 4pm For more information about other events at the festival, visit http://www.foyles.co.uk/storybox It's going to be great!

  7. The WordPlay team (myself and Leon) run radio, podcast & audio projects for children ? some of your kids may have already scripted & performed their very own radio plays at our radio workshops or they may have created their own podcast at one of our clubs. Our next exciting podcast project is being held at The Ivy House starting Tuesday 26th July. We are running a four day summer podcast club for children aged 8-16 at The Ivy House and the theme will be ?LOCAL?! So we invite the local kids to interpret this any way they like, and working together as a group, they will produce a podcast including all the jingles & idents, conducting their own interviews and reports, and trails/adverts. Just to get your audio juices flowing, here?s a very short clip of two young hosts interviewing their brother, Noah, on his view on immigration. At a recent WordPlay club, Indigo & Lola decided their podcast should be about the news, all from the perspective of 12 year olds: Their full episode will be up on our website shortly, so stay tuned! 12. Hello, So this event isn't based in ED, but we are! Foyles bookshop have asked us (WordPlay) [www.wordplayeducation.co.uk] to create a podcast series based on this year's summer Lit festival for children & young adults - The Story Box Festival. We are looking for children aged 8-16 to help us out to host the podcast - there will be several fantastic events throughout the summer reading festival and we would like our young hosts, presenters and reporters to interview authors, have discussions based on the events, help write the script for the podcast and present the festival news! http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=2927 If you would like your child to take part, please do email us on [email protected] or send me a PM on here. We're really excited about this project. Finally, we are also running two radio drama challenges at Foyles, Charing Cross branch in case you have budding radio star kids who would love to write and perform their very own live radio play: http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=2925 We're looking forward to hearing from you! 16. Hello everyone, Over the summer we are running several podcast and radio projects for children and are in the process of producing some short audio trails prior to the events. As these events are for children, it makes perfect sense to have young voices talking on the microphones. So, we're on the lookout for children (aged 8-16) to record some short audio clips - we're based in East Dulwich and can bring our microphones to you if your kids fancy getting involved. In way of exchange, we'd be able to offer a discounted radio drama party for your children and their friends. We can also record anything that you or your children would like to be saved forever in audio - perhaps a song, story or poem etc. If you would like to know a little more about what we do, head over to our website: http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/ We're looking forward to hearing from you and your budding radio star children! Don't hesitate to ask any questions. All the best, Zoe & Leon

  18. Hi all! My partner Leon and I are running a very unofficial Table Tennis Tournament in Dulwich Park this coming Sunday (24th). We will be having a singles tournament and if enough people show, we could also have a doubles tournament as well (depending on weather and stamina)! We will be at the table tennis tables in Dulwich Park by the playground from 12pm onward. First match is 12.30pm! It may be a bit chilly so bring some warm ping pong layers, some food for a picnic-ish lunch and some booze if you want to keep warm! Warning: Alcohol may affect your table tennis skills - not sure which way this will swing though! There MAY be a small prize for the champion, but don't get too excited... We hope to see some of you there! Bring some bats / balls :) Yay for table tennis, Zoe & Leon
  19. ... and here's a picture of Leon with very young WordPlayers experimenting with sound effects! Don't forget to pop into Village Books before 10th April to buy your radio drama making ticket! http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/events/
  20. Some of you may have seen us outside Goodrich School yesterday honking horns and making rain! Here's a photo of me waiting for future WordPlayers to arrive and get on the radio in our pop-up studio!

    Hello!

Hello! My bf and I want to start up a table tennis club if you're interested! The weather is getting warmer and we're desperate to get outside in the? almost sunshine! There are several table tennis tables at Dulwich Park - we work from home but perhaps when the clocks change, we could trundle down to dulwich park and play some doubles table tennis in evenings! I'm guessing as the weather gets better, more people at weekends will start to play TT! All the best, Zoe (and Leon)
