  1. Happy to recommend FuseWise; called them out a few weeks ago when there was a problem with a circuit tripping in the kitchen.  They  responded quickly, turned up at the agreed time and charges were reasonable and as advertised. It was a tricky problem to find and repair, but Omari was very thorough and explained the issue clearly.

  2. Professional film and TV production is work which cannot be carried out from home and is permitted under current regulations. Here?s the detail:

    https://filmlondon.org.uk/covid-19-updates-and-guidance

Production companies filming on location follow strict codes of practice and draw up stringent risk assessments covering specific Covid-19 safety measures for each project/location, including testing for cast and crew as appropriate.

  3. I?ve collected mail from Highshore Road twice in the last couple of weeks; today?s included 3 Christmas cards posted 1st class in mid-December and a non-essential financial item. No subscription magazines or other expected items. Prioritising tracked mail, parcels, etc. over letter post is a questionable strategy, as banks, HMRC, hospitals, GP surgeries, etc. tend not to send these! Apparently Covid vaccination invitations are being sent out by letter, which will be of concern to anyone in the groups due to receive these in the next few weeks.

The counter staff are polite and helpful, but obviously fed up with hearing the same complaints days after day. I was told last week that there would be no delivery ?any time soon? and to keep coming to the sorting office. This is clearly not possible for everyone (especially with buses not serving Rye Lane) and potentially risky at present. I was also told today that management is putting a plan in place to resolve the problem, but I?m slightly sceptical....

  4. I?m very happy to add my recommendation for Paul and his team. Paul came round to quote for removal of an old garden shed and returned later the same morning to carry out the work. The team was fast and efficient and took care not to damage paintwork or leave any mess when carrying the wood through the house. Excellent service.
  5. Well said, matttee. It was a very long, well-chaired meeting with all sides treated fairly and thoroughly scrutinised. It was/is all on YouTube, so of course the votes are publicly available, as are the entire proceedings. Whether people agree with the decision or not, there?s no way this was ?rubber-stamped? by tonight?s Planning Committee.

IMHO it was the right decision (no, I have no connections with anyone involved). Congratulations to all at DHFC, who?ve been tireless in achieving this, not to mention exercising patience and restraint in the face of some of the more fact-light accusations they?ve had to deal with on the way.

  6. Decided to be sensible and deal with some minor slate roof repairs a few weeks ago while the sun was shining. Got a couple of quotes and Norwood Roofing were able to do the work efficiently the next day, at a decent price and without scaffolding. Highly recommended.
  7. If it's just a takeaway which isn't selling alcohol or providing entertainment, they probably don't have/need a premises licence, unless they're serving hot food between 11pm and 5am, which would be licensable as 'late night refreshment'. They might be registered as a food business with the Council, but I don't know how you'd check this - Environmental Health, maybe? The friendly chat is probably the way to go in the first instance!
