It just seems that "fairness" is a buzzword in politics at the moment and I just wanted to test peoples thinking of what it meant for them. It got the response I was generally expecting.

A balance needs to be struck and govt has to consider the needs of those whose need is greatest and most deserving. But the concept of fairness should consider all in society not just the worse off. of course to extract the maximum from higher earners to throw at underserving causes would not be "fair" to high earners. To think of the concept of fairness by considering only the less well off in society is narrow.

What's your understanding of a fair society and how its achieved. With today's announcement of child benefit being withdrawn for higher rate taxpayers being just one issue focussing peoples' minds on "fairness". What's fair about children of higher earners not getting child benefit, whilst these people pay most into the tax system?

Its good that every player on the european team contributed at least half a point. So every player can claim to have made the difference between the teams. Having said that there was immense pressure on GMAC down the stretch. Fowlers finish got everyone on the edge of their seats. The ryder cup always seems to deliver some excitement.

looks like last game will make it 15 13. But hunter could come back. Other matches look done and dusted.

Very strong start by Europe, but most matches still quite close. Considering taking the afternoon off to see it through to the end, if its not already finished by lunchtime of course.
