  1. I think you need to write a longer, more detailed story next time Sean.
  2. Cmon Brendan, its not the British Empire anymore.

I have nothing to say about this - just fancied bumping it onto the new page, cos I liked it.

(in percentage terms...) Or is there no limit to your good grace ? There has to be a point at which the amount deducted becomes unfair on you.

I'll entrust that decision to the current government Bob. I don't have a problem with this measure in particular. It just seems that "fairness" is a buzzword in politics at the moment and I just wanted to test peoples thinking of what it meant for them. It got the response I was generally expecting.

Its not a personal piggy bank, but it is money received for the benefit of all people in the UK. A balance needs to be struck and govt has to consider the needs of those whose need is greatest and most deserving. Saying all the "right" things and "those who earn more pay more" is all a bit of a yawn to be honest. There is a stage at which the balance sways too far in favour of those who do not make little or no contribution to society in financial form or otherwise. The tories are addressing this imbalance. Thankfully. Whilst hopefully ensuring deserving causes do not suffer. I have no problem with this particular measure at all. But the concept of fairness should consider all in society not just the worse off. of course to extract the maximum from higher earners to throw at underserving causes would not be "fair" to high earners. To think of the concept of fairness by considering only the less well off in society is narrow.

  10. Naughty Colin Colin Montgomerie & IMG File Injunction to Stop Rumored S&M Pics by Ryan Ballengee on Aug 10, 2010 2:55 PM EDT in Monty Watch 17 comments Email Print.Yesterday, I received a curious tip in my inbox about Colin Montgomerie. As purveyors of Monty Watch, I get the occasional hint. This one was bizarre. It read: "News of the World with Monty pics! Think Pulp Fiction!" Going to the News of the World site, I found nothing Travolta or Tarantino-inspired. But, today we get some clarity. The National Ledger reports on an interview on the Dan Patrick Show with CBS Sports analyst David Feherty in which the Irishman-turned-American citizen said of Monty, "Apparently there's been an injunction filed to keep this story out of the newspapers." The tipster to Waggle Room indicated that Montgomerie's representation at IMG has filed suit to keep the News of the World from publishing whatever photos they have. So what could be so incriminating? The source says in reference to Pulp Fiction, "Rumor is full on gimp mask, rubber ball in the mouth, whips, dog collar and dominatrix." As Sports by Brooks notes, the type of injunction filed in UK court prevents the complaint from going public
  11. Please stop. I beg you. MacMick has been your funniest joke so far.
  12. What's your understanding of a fair society and how its achieved. With today's announcement of child benefit being withdrawn for higher rate taxpayers being just one issue focussing peoples' minds on "fairness". What's fair about children of higher earners not getting child benefit, whilst these people pay most into the tax system?

  14. Hilarious. Do you have any more?
  15. I have been thinking about this and i remember what monty put up with from the americans at brookline. Poor chap. (He looks nothing like mrs doubtfire)
  16. Excellent captain. Speech was a little OTT for my liking. But maybe the Us would have milked it too.
  17. Thanks very much Georgia.
  18. Hats off to Corey pavin, very noble in defeat. Monty really knows how to milk it !
  19. Its good that every player on the european team contributed at least half a point. So every player can claim to have made the difference between the teams. Having said that there was immense pressure on GMAC down the stretch. Fowlers finish got everyone on the edge of their seats. The ryder cup always seems to deliver some excitement.
  20. whole ryder cup now in the hands of GMAC and hunter. Dont go away! GM 2up after 12.
  21. looks like last game will make it 15 13. But hunter could come back. Other matches look done and dusted.
  22. Very strong start by Europe, but most matches still quite close. Considering taking the afternoon off to see it through to the end, if its not already finished by lunchtime of course.

  24. The US guys get all excited and then have to smile.
  25. The Overton and Bubba Watson celebration after holing from the fairway at the 8th was hilarious at the time and even funnier when Peter Allis and Ken Brown got to have their say on it in the highlights. Really funny. Great day for Europe today though, possibly their best ever day in Ryder Cup. Monty has front loaded the sibgles draw to get the job done early tomorrow and Harrington and McDowell as anchormen just in case.
