Declan - I no longer concern myself with what the values of the catholic church are - but Monica seems a nice person and she believes the church has value in her life. Whilst I am in DM's camp on the issues raised and am a firm non believer in God or any religion, I think some issues should be approached with a little more diplomacy. I would not want DM speaking to my mother either in the way she has posted on this thread. Whilst my mother, as an example, would accept that there are many wrongdoers in the Catholic church, she would believe that overall it is a force for good. Its very difficult for some people to set aside hundreds of years of teaching that has formed part of their families' beliefs and habits for generations, from cradle to grave. My mother for example, still prays for me. My 7 year old daughter on the other hand, does not know what a prayer is.

Legal i thought you were suggesting monica had in some way chosen to ignore the issue or the victims rights to express their anger. I think lots of catholics are ashamed that this has happened but that they remain loyal to the values of the church despite the shameful actions of many priests and nuns who have let themselves and the church down. I think DM on the other hand had a personal axe to grind and i thought she was insensitive towards monica. Im not a fan of the catholic church but i do have sympathy when someone is picked upon unfairly.

That has been clear throughout monica. You are perfectly entitled to support the good aspects / people in the church and dismiss the wrongdoers. There is no basis for what legal is implying.

Wave Palestinian flags, unions urge Celtic soccer fans at tonights match against Isrealis "We hope that Celtic fans will join with us in a demonstration of support for a just and lasting peace in Israel/Palestine based on a secure Palestinian homeland living side by side with Israel," Dave Moxham, deputy secretary general of the Scottish Trades Union Congress said in a statement. Thankfully Celtic have nipped this in the bud, but why on earth would a Scottish Trades Union get involved in this sort of propoganda request? Embarrasing.

You'll need a bigger spade than that Hal, to get you out of that mess.

Watched "the Queen" tonight dealing with the issue of the showdown between the Queen and Thatcher over South Africa in the 1980s. After their run in had been smoothed over they met at Balmoral and whilst making small talk Denis Thatcher mentioned to the Queen that they had bought a new house in Dulwich. To which the Queen replied "That's a place near Peckham isn't it." Denis and Maggie frowned.....

Jah Lush Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Two shots - two goals. You've got the Indian sign > on us. Now you know how Arsenal felt at half time on Sunday, Jah. Sounds familiar and possession counts for nothing at the end of the day. The team that takes it chances wins and many teams suffer from believing in the new management mantras of "Possession football" and "the team that passes the ball best, blah blah blah" which are the top managerial misconceptions of the moment. Wenger, Benitez, and Mowbray too, are the main culprits I can think of in thinking that you can win a game without remembering that the point of the game is to create genuine chances and score goals. Alex Ferguson and Martin O Neill lead the way in the opposing corner.

I picked up on it Sean - but I personally did not want to discuss it. I had heard stories and a couple of years ago saw the film, Magdelene Sisters which I'm sure was only a soft version of the truth but it left me with a horrble feeling. Its a true example of where religion goes wrong. Shut away your problems. GG - I am sorry to hear your story. You have my sympathy.

i dont like the maria carey one either unless it comes with the 'im dressed as santa' video, in which case i can make an exception.
