  1. Hi I am looking for a LAMDA teacher who can provide sessions for my daughter to work towards and take LAMDA exams (and who can organise for her to take the exam). Sessions were organised through her primary school originally and then her Secondary school, but when she moved schools this (i.e. sessions working towards exams with the exam at the end) was not on offer [at the new school]. She loves acting and drama and the point of this is for her to work towards and gain exams as an extra-curricular activity, as she has been doing in the past. She's achieved 'Distinction' in those exams to date and enjoys the discipline of preparing set exam pieces and working towards and taking part in the exams. She is just starting sixth form college and they don't offer group or individual classes there unless you study Drama as an A-Level. There's some flexibility around potential times as her lesson timetable doesn't run a full day every day. She is fine with joining a drama club for wider experience, teamwork, camaraderie etc (so we don't need recommendations on that) and we have visited the LAMDA website and contacted the local teachers listed on that site with no response. So the request is can any LAMDA teachers who offer individual lessons to 16 year-olds with a view to working towards LAMDA exams (or who can offer an alternative solution) get in touch with me please. Thanks all.
  2. Thanks for this, and apologies for the delay in replying. We are ok for uniform - it's coats and Year 11 Prom outfits we are looking for. I will keep an eye out on that Facebook page (and thank you for signposting) but was hoping people who might be thinking of having a clearout would want to donate any unwanted outfits and coats to this good cause - without the hassle of taking to a charity shop/ posting on Freecycle/ Facebook etc. Will have to have a rethink about how best to approach this - any more suggestions (and donations!) welcome.
  3. Dear all I am collecting on behalf of pupils at a Secondary School in Peckham and we would like please: Warm stylish coats in good condition (zips etc intact, and no rips/ tears please) in black or navy blue - e.g. puffer jackets etc for ages 11 up to 18 (to cater for taller/ larger 16-17 year-olds) Prom outfits for Year 11s - dresses and suits These will be distributed via the school to pupils who are receiving free school meals and/or who are refugees. I can come and pick these up within the local area (Dulwich, Forest Hill etc) - if I have enough responses I will try and combine journeys. We'd like to get these out before next Friday when term ends so I will be picking up initially hopefully from this weekend/ during the next week if possible. So if you are having a clearout and/or your children have grown out of their good quality coats and/or you have outfits going spare that would be suitable for Prom please DM me. Thanks in advance Nicole.
  4. We are near you and didn't get offered a place first time round but stayed on the waiting list and were offered a place that way (but didn't take it up). This was four years ago if that helps.
  5. Dear all Thanks for the replies. Can anyone recommend a named orthodontist at any of these - or another relatively local - practice please (I haven't had any further response from posters following my requests for PMs for named orthodontists within practices). I have the recommendation for Dr Pourghadiri (and thank you for that) here but I was hoping for somewhere closer/ easier to get to than Marylebone. We may go with him if I don't hear back from anyone else. I had originally looked at one of these recommended local dentists but having seen the reviews online the service differs according to which dentist you go for (with some very scathing reviews about one dentist) hence the request for recommendations for a named individual at the practice. I hope that someone is able to help with this. Thanks all in advance.

Would you mind PM'ing me with details of your specific orthodontist (who you would recommend) at this practice please. Thanks.

  10. It looks like my 14 year-old will need braces on her teeth. We have looked at an orthodontist in Beckenham but I was put off by the 'sliding scale' of prices according to the orthodontist's experience (bit like going to the hairdressers), and the hard sell. Maybe that's just how it is? I would welcome others' experiences and recommendations for a good orthodontist please - preferably reasonably local although we could travel to some degree. I was recommended an orthodontist in North Dulwich (by a friend whose daughter is now in her twenties and has lovely teeth) but have been put off by the online reviews. The dentist they had has also left the practice. Our own family dentist (treated three generations since early 1980s) has retired so any family dentist recommendations would be gratefully received as well - willing to go private if necessary. (I am petrified of dentists to give further context). Please PM if you would prefer. Thanks in advance.
