  1. Jeez I'm up googling "little red riding hood outfits" at 2am... Need to get more sleep, Take in the suggested fav book (we know that's never going to wash!) and think more carefully about what I input into search engines! Some very adult content returned leaving me feeling like I should encourage a bit more lady Macbeth... Less disney...
  2. Just wanted to say thank you for our unique handmade card... My daughter asked if she can do more, a big hit! So you'll see us back no doubt! Jem
  3. http://www.removalswithasmile.co.uk/ a mum friends dad runs this company which is why we used them back in jan to help us with our move, we felt they were trustworthy! Wouldn't hesitate to use again, Highly recommended... Friendly, reasonably priced, hard working and very flexible. We booked them for 3 hours with a view to extend if we needed it. They had our 3 bed house in the van and into our new property within the 3 hours! Were also willing to put any furniture together back together for us. Were very efficient. We also booked with quite short notice. Speak to Dennis for a quote. Think they can loan you boxes too? They also helped another friend move on the same weekend as us and they also spoke very highly of thier removal team too... Good luck with the move :)
  4. Thank god you've posted this! It's not just us going through this... I find tantrums are worse at the end of the day (tired) or if she hasn't eaten well. I had some pretty epic paddy's and my 3yo started wetting herself during them (attention seeking behaviour) I ended up getting the health visitor involved who was very helpful at suggesting tactics for deflating the situation, What worked for my daughter was completely ignoring the tantrum behaviour and then massively over praising every single ounce of good from being able to calm down to good listening etc etc and finally getting to shall we read a story/play with play dough/make some cakes now... I tried everything and this really helped, but it didn't happen overnight. My daughter will be 4 in August and we still get the epic meltdowns but they are much more manageable and short lived now. But I do second they do indeed flair up when I have made her do something she doesn't want to do like brushing teeth, leaving somewhere she is having fun (despite warnings) or for a while there going to nursery...! Oh and also buy/borrow (i can lend it to you) the book 'my big shouty day' http://www.amazon.co.uk/Big-Shouting-Day-Rebecca-Patterson/dp/1780080069 It initially made my daughter cross because it was a little it too close to home but ultimately helped her understand a little better! And ends on a really sweet positive note. Good luck!
  5. Recommend turners but if they can do last minute....? This might help too http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1099368,1102456#msg-1102456 Jem
  6. Ooooo lucky you... If it were me I'd book a spa day, take a book and make the best use of the facilities with a bit of lunch. Wowcher or groupon might be worth a look at for some cheap deals. Shopping for self is always impossible with kids so purchasing some much needed clothes would also be on my list! Enjoy your week Jem
  7. Is your deposit protected by a tenancy deposit scheme? We have just come out of a battle with our LL over deposit but went through TDS. You can check here https://www.tds.gb.com/is-my-deposit-registered.html if not there are 3 other schemes you can check with. You should have been given documents to say where it is protected - its a legal LL requirement. The deposit also has to have been registered within 10 days of handing it over to them and you should have been given the prescribed info leaflet or the LL is liable to pay you 3 x the amount your deposit... So do check that out. All this will strengthen a legal case. Unfortunately there is very little in place to protect tenants as I recently found out... You may find Small claims may be the only way forward. which having spoken to shelter for advice is apparently very straightforward and you can do yourself without the use of a costly solicitor. It cost around ?90 to file a claim. You can also talk to southwark council and report the LL as rogue but they won't actually be able to do anything. Did a quick google and came across these people http://www.fishermeredith.co.uk/legal-advice/service/personal-services/landlord-tenant/disputes-with-landlords although I have not used them so don't take it as a personal recommendation! Good luck and do give shelter a call they were invaluable source of advice when I was having a nervous breakdown over our deposit being unfairly taken, they may also be able to suggest solicitors to speak to. Also if you renting through a letting agent - they should be helping you too... Know you are not alone with crap LL's we had one which we fought and won and was worth every ounce of stress involved.
  8. I second Turners on barry road without hesitation... Have been using them for years and they even replaced a bulb free of charge at the last MOT (never known a mechanic to not charge!). Always busy so you may need to book in a few days in advance.
  9. Any other BT customers having problems with thier BB and phone line due to a supposed damaged cable? or just me? may take until 25th to fix apparently?? Boo hiss!
  10. Recommended to me by a friend. Fantastic affordable removals. They were very flexible with time as we didn't want to spend more money than necessary. We booked the minimum 3 hours with the option to add extra time if we needed it, suited us perfectly. on the morning of the move they arrived before our 9am start and cracked on straight away, they managed to on load and offload within the 3 hours. They took care with our furniture and gave us the option to help us rebuild furniture in our new property. I was also offered packing boxes on booking but didn't need them.. Wouldn't hesitate to use again or recommend. Brilliant company at a fantastic price. Speak to the lovely Dennis who will help you... http://removalswithasmile.co.uk/main.php
  11. Hi, anyone found a rather tatty looking well loved bunny dropped somewhere on the hill behind the horniman (westwood park) This bunny must be on his last life!! I have 'done' a drive by with no luck just hoping someone maybe took him in. Quite sad as he's been with us for 3 years :( Thank you
  12. Completely agree... I have a toddler that wants to walk everywhere and its horrible to have to steer her out of the way of some dog poo that someone hasn't bothered to pick up! And its not the pittball dog owners you think it would be - I saw some dulwich private school teens skulk away from their dogs poo last summer, right after it pooed right behind my little girl. Disgusting. More needs to be done, just not sure of the solution?
