WANTED: tiler for fireplace hearths
kittenheels replied to kittenheels's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Commenting on my own very old post as we?re finally revisiting this job! Looking for someone to remove cracked old hearth, lay a new solid base and tile the area so it?s flush with the floorboards. Also two more hearths that have good bases but need new tiles. Ideally all in the next two or three weeks. Any recommendations very welcome please! They?re small areas but I want them done perfectly so looking for someone with experience in this sort of work. -
Recommended: brilliant builder for Victorian tiled path - Bujar Doda
kittenheels replied to kittenheels's topic in Reviews
Just logging on for the first time in a while and I'm so pleased to see other people have used Doda and were pleased with his work! Extend10 - yours looks fabulous. -
We?ve just had a black and white tiled path laid at our Victorian terrace by Doda, a brilliant builder who I wouldn?t hesitate to recommend. He also re-rendered our walls, fitted railings and a new gate, and laid slate slabs to the side. Doda was diligent, polite, honest and a pleasure to have around. His rates were very reasonable too. Let me know if you?d like to see photos of our path - happy to send. Contact Doda on 07916 846473.

Any recommendations for someone who can take up (and perhaps line) a pair of curtains locally please?

Finishing Point flooring have just restored, sanded and polished the floors in our Victorian house and they have done a brilliant job. The place is unrecognisable (in a good way!). Roy, who carried out the work, was courteous, knowledgeable and endlessly patient in the face of adversity. Derek, who owns the business, was a pleasure to work with too. http://www.finishingpointltd.com/

We've just lifted a carpet to find an old hearth underneath. It's cracked and upon lifting out a few of the broken pieces it's clear that it needs patching up. We just want it solid so that no one falls through the hole! Doesn't have to look particularly pretty, we're going to cover it with tiles. Any recommendations for someone who could sort it all out please? Thanks.

Where can I buy a propane gas bottle?
kittenheels replied to kittenheels's topic in Request a Tradesperson
It's propane. Thank you! -
We've just been given a gas barbecue and need to buy a gas cylinder so we can use it this weekend. Is there anywhere in ED or nearby that sells them or do I need to venture further afield? We're in Honor Oak Park.

PlusRooms completed our side-return extension in December - just in time for Christmas as they promised. We're delighted with the results and I'm thrilled that a relatively small extension has made such a big impact on our living space. The quality of their drawings and building work was excellent. It was particularly encouraging for us that the buildings inspector was impressed every time he came round for a site visit, and considering we stayed living at home with our two-year-old throughout the build, it was surprisingly pain-free. We had a few issues with one project manager (who has since left the company) but PlusRooms took steps to put things right as soon as we voiced our concerns. We've gone on to recommend PlusRooms to friends and would use them again.

We're planning to knock through between our living room and our daughter's playroom, but want to be able to shut away the plastic, play-doh and princess toys in the evenings. We love the idea of adding sliding doors as pictured (not enough space for folding ones) or pocket doors which disappear into the wall. Has anyone had this done? I'd love to see photos and get your builder recommendations please.

Buying a stretch of our neighbour's garden: any advice?
kittenheels replied to kittenheels's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Thank you! -
Our lovely neighbours have agreed to sell us a stretch of their garden. We've settled on the amount and now need to get the legal side sorted. We're all hoping it should all be quite straightforward but I'd love to hear from anyone who has been through a similar process and has advice to share please. Thank you!

Huge thanks to Mark (mrmarkie121) for his great advice and for setting up my much-improved office this week. Highly recommended! -
Techie expert needed to help set up home office
kittenheels posted a topic in Request a Tradesperson
I'm revamping my home office and am after someone techie to set it all up for me. It won't be anything too complicated but I could do with some advice. Willing to pay of course! Anyone specialise in this sort of thing? -
We're keen to remove a hedge from our back garden asap, ahead of baby-proofing the (small) space. Any recommendations for someone to do the job and dispose of the rubbish responsibly? Thank you.

Our bathroom has no ventilation, other than opening the window which gives our neighbours a bit of an eyeful. We need to get an extractor fan fitted, but I've no idea whether this is a job for a builder (drilling through the external wall), an electrician, or even a plumber. If you've had the same job done and were happy with the results, I'd be grateful for any recommendations please. Thank you!

Thank you Dulwich Fox, I've just ordered some. Worth a try!

I've been deaf in one ear for three days now and it's driving me (and my husband) nuts. Predictably I can't get an appointment with the GP for ages. Any recommendations in the meantime? I wondered about trying Hopi ear candles somewhere? Otex drops aren't helping so far.
