  1. Carpgirl, I think TeriG could do without your commiserations. In all my years on this forum, I don't think I have ever read such a pompous post. Your kids are not raised in fear, they've been raised to love & respect all life forms whether human or animal. What tripe! TeriG says her boyfriend was attacked by a scary dog....QED it was a scary dog. Anyway, the point is TeriG's partner did the right thing and reported the incident to the police and I hope these bullies get their comeuppance.
  2. You better have called the police. Ludicrous to hide round a pretence of pacificism. Don't mean to sound mean, but this sort of stuff needs to be dealt with by the proper authorities so it doesn't happen again. Tell your bloke to man up and give the police a call NOW. How would he feel if a young kid is mauled?
  3. I have decided now when I walked down the hill I will never do so on the One Tree Hill side. Too dangerous by far. The other day saw a lunatic white van driver veer onto the pavement. And we all know how narrow that pavement is. Walk against the traffic people, far safer by far. And all those who haven't and wish to please add this to the myriad of complaints that most local residents have as regards Forest Hill Road/Honor Oak Road/Honor Oak Rise. Names/emails in the opening thread.
  4. Further confirmation that something needs to be done. Was struggling to cross the road with my son in his pram and the only way I could get across was a taxi driver stopping - to the annoyance of all behind - on the uphill part of the road until there was room from those coming down. This cannot be the right way. The top bit of Forest Hill Road incorporates five sets of traffic at one stage with no traffic calming, zebras anything. Cars are coming onto it from Wood Vale, Brenchley Gardens, Honor Oak Park and Honor Oak Road, not to mention Forest Hill Road itself. Come on Lewisham, come on Southwark, get something sorted. Renata can you give us an update on whether anything is getting through to anyone?
  5. Hardly, contractors seem to have done that bit quite efficiently.
  6. I hope that the clear and present failings involved at this junction do not in any way deter those wishing to see improvements at the top of Forest Hill Road. For those who have not seen it, there's an equally long thread called "Complaining about traffic on Forest Hill Road" on the forum too.
  7. No need for this thread to degenerate, like so many others on this forum. I know several people have made their concerns known to the folks in the opening post. If you haven't and would like to, please do.
  8. Surely a question for our one and only Mr Barber?
  9. Can anyone from either council please explain to us, your electors, who actually is responsible.....I don't think anyone knows.
  10. Another positive development paddygirl. Getting the two sites to work together can only help. I will post on SE23.com too relaying concerns and also details of people to contact.
  11. Looks like this thread has won a few eyeballs and I'd be interested to know if anyone has made their representations known to the individuals named in the OP before I contact them again. Regards TQ
  12. Going to become a home for five housing association flats.....there goes the neighbourhood! Joke if anyone gets offended!
  13. Golly, took ten days to build, or did I mishear that!
  14. henryb, pls make your views known to the individuals named in the opening post. That's the only way we can get the powers that be to do anything.
  15. Growlybear, what I was hoping to achieve from this thread is to get parents at Fairlawn to complain to interested parties about the lack of crossing points on Forest Hill Road, and the crazy junction up top, which I'm sure is seen and used by kids at the school. The parking issue is another matter. The main problem is the crazy road design and the speed. Sorry, if I'm sounding like a broken record.
  16. Ms Hamvas, really appreciate the time and effort you have put into this. I think most of the issues of concern have been raised and I am glad you made clear to individuals why I mentioned in OP why parents of kids at Fairlawn, if so inclined, may wish to badger both councils. And yes, I've lived where I have for years and for the life of me did not know that island in the middle of the road represented a crossing point. Just saw it as a futile effort to address the speed situation. I've never used it, it's as perilous as trying to cross anywhere else. BTW, a car parked on FHR was smashed up at the junction down by the Brenchley Gardens junction. No doubt, some speeding involved there too. Again, get those emails off to the names relayed up top and hopefully we, as the local community, can see our main thoroughfare get a little safer. It's never going to be quiet...it is a main road. But improvements cannot be beyond the wit of man or woman. And as a side point, where the hell are parents meant to drop their kids off at Francesca Cabrini. It's only a problem for half an hour twice a day. Don't think it's the priority in anyway.
  17. I don't think the parents dropping off their kids at the school is the primary problem. The biggest problem is speed. That's what most local residents want addressed in my opinion. As I stated in opening post, there have been accidents, most recently when a car crashed into the school gates on a Saturday afternoon. No parents dropping off their kids then. Ms Hamvas, appreciate your involvement in this. Please keep us informed of any developments. Again, I believe the best way to get things done is to email officials named in opening thread. Also dbboy, unaware of any crossing at the school, otherwise I would use it all the time. And staggered by your suggestion that the problem with the traffic flow around the top of the road is how slowly it goes. Maybe during school drop offs/pick ups....certainly not the case any other time.
  18. Appreciate it hoonaloona. Where can I sign this petition? And remember, send your concerns to named individuals up top. That seems to be the only way this can be sorted out. Regards
  19. Unfortunately not, it was Thames Water fixing something a couple of weeks back. How much of an improvement was that? I urge you to make your views known. It'll only take a minute. Regards
  20. Ralee, yes it is dangerous and really urge you just to send an email to the named individuals above.....that's the only way we're going to get anything sorted. Cheers.
  21. I agree it is an extremely difficult layout but I don't think it's beyond the power of the two councils to come up with something. Any ideas anyone has, please relay to the individuals I mentioned above.
  22. Think it's important that we get more and more people complaining. Mr Tarplett has failed to respond to my concerns so I spoke to the council and got through to a Mr Keith Gasson, who was very sympathetic. Please email him too on [email protected] Also copy in [email protected] Will edit my opening thread to add these names there too.
  23. I have been led to believe that nothing will be done to make the traffic safer at the top of Forest Hill Road despite clear indications that the junction with Honor Oak Park and Honor Oak Road is a potential deathtrap. Only a couple of weeks ago I saw a car had crashed into the school gates at Francesca Cabrini. Luckily it was Saturday afternoon and not half 8 on a Monday morning. Because the school is in Southwark but the road is half in Lewisham, Lewisham Council I understand is not interested. Ideally, my contact at Southwark council says, is we get people from the Lewisham side of Forest Hill Road, or parents at Fairlawn School or any other interested party to make their concerns direct to. I think the speed and the insanity that is often visible on that road requires a response from Lewisham and Southwark councils, whether it be speed cameras, zebra crossing, traffic lights, new road design something. Please send emails to following [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] is the representative at Southwark They are awaiting your comments. Thanks
