  1. Does anyone know the contact details of the guy that was selling the traditional looking bus stops signs with an East Dulwich theme on them. He was on the market about a year ago, but haevnt seen him since. I moved out the area recently and I would love to buy one tks
  2. Is anyone else experiencing a power cut at the top of lordship lane (past the library). Any idea who you call to report it? All my neighbours are out so can't check with them Tks
  3. 13 non sarcastic/caustic/rude etc comments in a row just too many to cope with southmark? Well done for making the first one. Hopefully you feel better now. I for one have given myself a good talking to about what a heartless individual I am for trying to help other forum users get home. It's comments like that, that stop people bothering to post on here. The point of the post was about the state of public transport and how to get home, not the particular incident. Of course we are all concerned for anyone that has been affected, I thought that would go without saying, but apparently not. I look forward to your next attempt to make everyone feel bad/small southmark Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No concern for anyone involved? 4. My wife just had a nightmare getting home from Denmark Hill train station. She was told there a lot of roads closed and buses are struggling to get through Just found this about whats happened http://www.itv.com/news/london/story/2012-04-03/camberwell-explosion/ Just thought it would be helpful for people trying to get home to know. Guess Forest Hill is the best alternative for most of us
  5. I called Dennis directly this morning and he squeezed us in this afernoon. He sorted us out with loads of different gadgets from a chimney baloon to the heat reflecting radiator pads. If you have a spare hour then it is a great idea as it saves yourself some money and helps the environment. Thanks to Boris for paying for this initative.
  6. One word of caution On the one we have the bottom sticks out much more than you think so causes endless stubbed toes and children tripping over it. Sounds ridiculous I know, but I would definitely think about getting a different one if I could go back in time.
  7. I guess he must have been as they instantly knew whose it was. The owners lived in a house 30 doors down from us. Such a nice dog. Glad the council sorted it out despite being so reticent at first
  8. There is a light brown male dog, which looks a bit like a labrador, but slightly bigger, sat on my porch at the top end of Lordship Lane. It has been here about 30mins. It desperately wants to come in. It is like it used to live here. But we have been here over 4 years so that is doubtful. It does not have a collar on We have called Southwark lost dog line on 0207 5252000, to let them know. they couldnt have sounded less interested, but apparently someone will call later about pickking him up. so either call them, or i will try and keep an eye on here of anyone recognises it tks Paul
  9. I have to defend hislordshiplane.... I think he could have said it a lot better, but The gang crime that goes on in South London (if this incident is an of gang crime, which seems to be the assumption on the information there is), rarely affects innocent people. It would have been highly frightening to have been in the area when it was going on, but the liklihood of being hurt yourself would have been minimal if you had no affinity to either groups involved. At the end of the day, most gang crime that goes on, effects only other gang members, and as harsh as it may sound, i am glad about that. When it is the norm, that gangs just go round randonly killing people (alla clockwork orange) is the time to move out of East Dulwich. Before then, I dont think 'ordinary people' have too much to worry about
  10. Thanks so much for all the responses. sounds like it wont be too bad at all.
  11. We are thinking about buying a house on Underhill Road, but we are worried about the commute to the city. Just up from Belvoir Road, going away from Lordship Lane. Anyone live around there, commuting into the City (Liverpool Street and Aldergate area)? What is the commute like? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  12. I normally get the 40 in every morning, but have been off all week, so first time on it this morming. I get it from the Plough at 6.20, which gets to London Bridge at about 6.45, however due to the bad trafiic, it was abuot 7.05 by the time it got through all the traffic. Must be terrible later on
  13. I went to Locale for fathers day, and again today for lunch. I thought it was great, food was fresh, and tasted great. Thought the decor inside was good, with a relaxed and buzzy atmosphere. Today we sat outside in the sun which was very pleasent and relaxing. After everyone talking abuot wanting an Italian on this forum, I cannot believe the amount of negative reviews it has recieved. I think Locale is exactly what East Dulwich was missing, and think it is a great addition
  14. I was having lunch with my wife in our house, when we heard a motorbike roaring past, it sounded like it was giong unbelievably fast. We both looked at each other, and commented how ridculously quick it sounded when suddenly there was a bang, and you knew the guy had come off his bike and must have slid for ages. We went outside to see if there was anyhting we could do, but there were already a lot of peple out there phoning the police. Not long after amubulances and police cars were screaming past the house to the scene. We came stright back in and we had to go out soon after, so dont know any other information, I hope they are ok, and I hope even more that he didnt cause injury to anybody else
  15. We had an attempted break in on thursday night, we live at teh top of LL near Upland Road as well so that is obviosuly the area they are targetting at the moment. My wife got in at 10pm, and discoverd it. Luckily our door was deadlocked, so they just did a lot of damage but didnt get in. We have an alarm (which was on) with a box on the front, and that didnt deter them. We also have a bus stop within full view of our house, so amazed no one heard or saw anything on such a busy road as LL... Anyway we were lucky, and just need a new door, I hope the police manage to catch them soon.
  16. Thats great, thanks a lot for the info
  17. My wife is pregnant, and would like to know whether there is anywhere to do Pregnancy Yoga in the East Dulwich area? tks
