  1. I am looking for recommendations for brick sprayers / cleaners - those who have sprayed down the front of the house to remove years of grime. Also ideally if they can paint sills as well. Thanks
  2. Good evening, I am looking to replace my old French doors, the window above, and the entire frame. It is too draughty. Looking for any recommendations. Thank you.
  3. Another recommendation for Fernando. He arrived early each time he came, clear communication and worked very hard to trim hedges and clear up the garden and do some general maintenance. Cleared up very well after doing each job. Very nice guy as well and very reasonable rates.
  4. Has anyone had a loft conversion done in late autumn / winter? If so, how did it go - just curious how it works with major roof replacement work done during the winter. Thanks!
  5. Hello, has anyone ever done this (or had it done by a builder) and if so did it improve your water pressure. What was the cost? We have spoken to Thames Water and got the costs from them to replace the pipe from their mains to our boundary but we need to lay the new pipe from our house to the boundary. Thanks.
  6. To add our recommendation: we worked with Bart from Pure View after reviewing recommendations on this forum. We wanted built-in alcove units put in to store books etc. and also a matching TV cabinet. At design stage we were very impressed with Bart's ideas and ability to both take on our ideas and suggest his own thoughts with what would look good aesthetically and in keeping with the period features whilst also looking modern and fresh. The installation was very professional, quick and the finished product looks amazing. We are extremely happy with the team and look forward to working with them in the future on other carpentry projects we have in the house. Excellent at communication as well (which I've always found difficult with other building professionals) - 100% recommend the team. Pictures of the finished articles attached. No connection with the team, just very happy customer.
  7. A massive recommendation for Steve and Nichola who did a fantastic job restoring our floors. They previously were discoloured / covered in blotches of paint after years of neglect but they did an amazing job making them look brand new. Did a great job cleaning up after themselves as well and worked very quickly. Definitely worth the money we paid. No link with them whatsoever, just a very happy customer (we got their details through searching on here). Would say that they get booked up in advance (they only came last week and that was their first available week when we spoke to them in Feb) so get in touch with them if you're looking to get your floors done. 07949 411650 - Steve Loftus Thanks
  8. Would appreciate if you got any responses as we are looking as well (we are aware of Casa). Thank you.
  9. Thanks for the advice - I found one who on his website looked like he was gas safe registered but when I phoned he said he was no longer registered. I've posted a job on mybuilder to find a gas safe engineer. Thank you.
  10. Thanks, really appreciate your advice. I'm fairly certain that the chimney is open as when I stick my hand in I can feel a draught, but need to get a chimney sweep round to make sure it's not blocked (am considering putting in a wood burner instead), so will see if any chimney sweeps are capable of uninstalling this.
  11. Hello, I have recently moved into a new home and the previous owner had this gas (I think) fire on the ground floor (see pics). The reason why I think it's gas is because there is a pipe (which feels metallic but I'm not 100% sure) connected through the skirting into the ground (I can't see what it leads to without lifting the floorboards). I had a play round with it but can't seem to get it to work (i.e. I tried pushing in the knob to ignition, then round to the bottom where the flame symbol is, but nothing happened). Is there anyone who knows how these things work and could recommend someone to come round to see if it can be fixed or replaced? Any advice gratefully welcomed. Thank you.
