  1. Would definitely want to join...had suggested something similar a few months ago with a view to donating proceeds to charity...
  2. Sorry, just reread what you said - we didnt clear loads of the path, only some.
  3. That was us! Took 10 minutes. hope others can do the same...
  4. Last night we shovelled the snow away from the pavement in front of our house and then put some salt down. If everyone did this, the streets would be much safer, would they not? Took about 10 minutes. So if middle aged people can do this, can't the young ones too?!
  5. A thought (and I'm sorry I missed the poll). How about "Hoovering the Roof ... Again"? I fear that the title you have chosen could quite be confused with the first as it is easy for the "second" to be dropped off. I am in publishing and would recommend an original title for an original collection - other elements could tie it in with the first/ your brand, but surely an original collection deserves its own identity?
  6. Funny you should say this...a couple of weeks ago, noticed that someone had removed the wheel trim (is that what it's called???) from my VW Golf - they are the original ones. Is someone out there repairing their car at our expense? VW owners take care...
  7. Fare dodging - we probably think it's only the bad mannered "yoof" and ill tempered feisty people who do this. But no. Last week, our bus got held up by inspectors (rare occurrence) and a young suited and booted male clutching a copy of the FT was found to have not done what he should have. Result? Bus delayed, train missed. All to save ?1.20. What sort of example is this setting???
  8. The same in Goodrich Road. Not a day goes by when we aren't graced with its presence.
  9. So any idea who's done it? Looks vaguely predatory to me...Are they her friends? are they stalking her? Does she know they are there?!
  10. The state of Goodrich Road is appalling! I was hoping that, once Crystal Palace Road had got its makeover, it would be Goodrich's turn next. Does anyone know if there are plans to do this? And how does one go about making a fuss about it in the right circles?
  11. Hello, On tuesday, our telephone line suddenly stopped working and I'm having a terrible time trying to get Pipex to do anything about it. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem i.e. their line going down? I'm trying to establish whether it is an area problem or it's just us!

Completely agree! There was an unnecessary traffic jam caused by parked cars and no less than three people carriers (with one or two children sitting regally on the back seats) trying to get past each other but being too wide to do so. Someone sensibly whistled loudly to get cars to reverse and managed the traffic flow. And through all this, those on foot had to weave themselves and their children in and out of the mass of cars, hoping that the drivers had seen them! Absolutely not safe.
  13. Reported it. But how can we get people to clean up after their dogs?
  14. Definitely a constant presence on Goodrich Road. Had to remove some from our front patch this morning...utterly disgusting.
  15. I had hoped that there would be enough serious takers...but clearly there don't seem to be! A shame. It could have been a fun thing to organise.
  16. Hi, Well, there seems to be some itnerest out there but not enough to get this off the ground properly...I think a group of about 10 would be good. I'll wait to see if there are any more replies.
  17. Hi, Here's a suggestion for a community spirited version of come Dine with Me (without the TV cameras...)! We could take it in turns to host a home-cooked dinner, which those who attend would pay for. All proceeds to go to the charity of the host's choice. Three benefits: meet new people locally; fund raise for a charity; have a great meal. Feedback welcome as I would like to get something like this going, with others who would willingly participate.

  19. It took me four and a half hours to get home on monday evening, the very last stretch having been completed after I stuck out my thumb and a very kind driver stopped and drove me to my door so that I did not have to grapple with the ice. Thank you again for helping out.
  20. A "curry house"! What a sad, limiting and shallow term to describe what COULD be a treasure trove of culinary delights, which a good Indian restaurant generally is...! Wait for what was chopsticks to reopen and then vote on whether you think it's a "curry house" or something far superior. And no, I'm not one of the owners, neither am i family! Just someone who likes to keep an open mind about things and not prejudge them.
  21. Glad that Charlie and Pepsi are suitably enticed! I'm going to ask them if I can write their menu!
  22. Hi, "Curry house" has been mentioned more than once in this thread...It's a pity that this term is used as Indian cuisine is much more than curries! It's almost tantamount to calling a restaurant serving British cuisine a chip shop! Anyway, it is likely that an Indian vegetarian restaurant would serve all sorts of snacks e.g. dosas (very thin rice flour pancakes stuffed with tasty fillisng), bhel puri (tiny little flat breads heaped with lovely tasty things topped with a date chutney); idli sambar (rice cakes with a hot gravy with vegetables)...and more like this. If this is the case, it will certainly not e a "curry house" or like other Indian restaurants on LL. We'll have to wait and see what they come up with. Someone mentioned Brick Lane...two major differences. The waiters in LL are not hanging out on the road hassling people to try out their highly over-rated fare; secondly, the food in LL is far superior to that in Brick Lane today - they seem to think that pouring different coloured gravies on thawed chicken should result in a chicken curry - well, IMO it doesn't!
  23. I hope they get caught - if not now, at some stage. What about apporoaching the school? Could the school be identified by their uniform? A small point: how do you know they are Indian? Coyuld they be Pakistani? Bangladeshi? Sri Lankan?
