  1. Where was DH station exactly? Dulwich Hamlet station? Where would that be now? Thanks, Slim
  2. I saw a couple of K-list celebs when I lived in East Dulwich. Steven Frost a couple of times in Sainsburys. Oh, and the guy who used to play the bearded teacher in Grange Hill - and played a builder once in Fawlty Towers. That was the first time I ever went to Sainsburys at Dog Kennel Hill, one Sunday afternoon in 1995.
  3. A friend of mine gave me a wonderful book, about 8 years ago, called East Dulwich Remembered which is full of old photos. Not sure if Belvoir Road is in there, don't have it to hand. You can probably find it on Amazon.

Ah yes, I remember Boots in Sainsburys. That was there when I moved to ED in 1995, I think; it was certainly there in the Summer of '96. But I reckon Starbucks probably only turned up there in 2000.

  6. Yes, I think it was sometime in 1999 or 2000. Thanks for the replies! As for prolonging pain, I used to find it really pleasant to spend 15 minutes there with a coffee and an almond croissant! But I always enjoyed supermarket shopping anyway. Easier to say that if you live on your own, of course.
  7. Hi, Can anyone remember, or find out, preferably to the month, when Sainsburys at Dog Kennel Hill grew a Starbucks? I'm trying to piece together a kind of timeline of my 7 years in East Dulwich. Thanks! Regards from Derby James
  8. I used to live in a top floor flat in Glengarry Rd, no 89 to be precise. I remember when number 89 was broken into, about ten years ago I guess. I was fortunate in that they couldn't get into my flat because of the way the door opened, but they managed to get into the other two, unfortunately.
  9. Hiya dulwichmum, Yes I certainly remember Starbucks at DKH Sainsburys. Was really surprised when it turned up there, not long after Starbucjs bought out Seattle Coffee Co and started to colonise the West End. Often used to have a coffee there on a Sunday after picking up stuff from Sainsburys. Bit surreal to have a view of the other shoppers coming through the checkouts, though. The staff in there were a bit hopeless, as well.
  10. Haven't seen anyone famous in East Dulwich for a year or five, but the very first time I went in Sainsburys at Dog Kennel Hill I saw the bloke who played 'Bullet' Baxter in Grange Hill (Michael Cronin), and I saw Steve Frost there a couple of times. Oh, I saw a woman who was a regular in Brookside in the late '80s on East Dulwich Grove, about 8 years ago. She was also in an episode of Red Dwarf.
  11. It's been there longer than five years .. it turned up there some time in 2000 if I remember correctly, but was definitely there in early 2001. Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I live in Derby now, but lived in Glengarry Road from 1995 to 2002. I still miss East Dulwich. James
