  1. To cella, I was simply fighting fire, with a bit of fire, and please see other people's post regarding the rendelharris posts.
  2. FOR THE ATTENTION of rendelharris I've noticed that a lot of people here are utterly annoyed by your 'TROLLING' style, as I've said to you before on this forum, your helping nothing, only distracting the attention of other people's comments here, turning it against them, your sarcastic style is making for bad reading (when they are right, and your totally wrong IMO). I really wish you went elsewhere.... Your making things negative, (again), and spoiling good conversation, (again), your name is just coming up everywhere (again.. Why not start a new thread for yourself, so you can be center of attention for your self, perhaps call the thread 'the rendelharris only' conversation, and you can spoil that section all you want!! hurray!, and then you can just do what your doing here, totally interrupting and changing direction of the what people here are posting about, a very bad decision of the council regarding the road closure....Please troll style your way..away :)
  3. rendelharris ------------------ Your pics are def taken when breaks in traffic.....how about you compare them to pics taken at 6am? sure they'll look the same. How about you take them at rush hour, oh, don't forget to get ones that actually involve the actual trafffic???!! Your fooling no one again, by the way, keep it coming, i'm enjoying this...
  4. FOR THE ADDENTION of rendelharris Your really not helping the good people here explain what is real and very concerneing problem to locals who need to help out other good people and to help them understand the situation of a terrible decsion the council have made recently, i'm very gradfull for talfourdite starting this thread, I'm 100% back her/his inmofmitive and helfull imformation in rectifying this terrible decision, which in creases pollution/traffice/noise and safty concerns. You rendelharris (if thats your real name!) have done nothing but pointless nic picking at peoples comments, your stopping the natual flow of helpfull decent and kind conversation, your distracting the direction of the conversation with ill thought replys which utterly have no cohersion to the situation that other good people here are trying to make. YOUR NOT HELPING ANYTHING BY THE WAY You seem to be completly undetered by the actual facts people here are saying that are true, and only commeting to shame them, even thoiugh they are right. You seem to favour a council that is brushing things under a carpet, who is not listing to us, like you are. Your in favour of people making longer car journys in heavy traffic roads your in favour of high pollution levels it seems to. Your commeting in an attitude like they are thick or something....which is wrong to do. Please pic on other trolls on this forum and waste thieer time, not the good people here who are trying to amend stupid decisions that you seem to defend FOR NO APPARENT REASON, with out and considerationthan other than yourself self interest. Of which your yet to revel, as i'm sure your be found out, sure that'll happen by what noncence you post. :) this smile is only for you, only you...
  5. We have to get more people walking and cycling and not driving. Numerous reasons for this including - global warming, child obesity, health, economics, reducing oil dependence...We have a climate change crisis and should be acting accordingly. Single biggest reasons people say they don't cycle or allow their children to cycle is fear / safety. This measure is designed to make Champion Hill feel safer for people to cycle, and indeed let their children walk and cycle to school unescorted. Clearly traffic has been reduced on Champion Hill. The queuing on Champion Park appears to have broadly returned to normal - I see it most days at some point 6-8 am and 5-7pm. I think many more such measures are required to really transform our roads to feel sufficiently safe for the many people and families we need to make walking and cycling their normal way of getting around locally and make the step improvements in fighting climate change, reducing fuel, improving health, etc. East Dulwich, London, UK and world desperately need. Ostrich like behaviour in rejecting changes to fight climate change should not be socially acceptable - unless proposing better alternatives to fight climate change. -------------------- Regards [email protected] former Liberal Democrat Councillor for East Dulwich Ward (2006-2018) [www.jamesbarber.org.uk] [twitter.com] Closing the road does not reduce pollution, only increases it, people walk yes well done, closing the road won't make me walk, because it's totally inconvenient for my tool carrying purpose, kids, ect. Closing the road will carry the dangers of driving onto the other roads, so accidents won't be less but more on the other routes needed to use due to the closure. people drive along that road....because they have to. Ever tried going to work in a suit, raining, when on foot, raining, or on a bike, raining, is that really going to be practical all the times, don't think this will make people walk more often, obese children are obese for other reasons, not because this road is more safe for walking! Climate change crisis is the world's job to do as well as ours, closing this road is not even a drop in the ocean. I hope you are monitoring the traffic your self on the other roads that are now more dangerous as champion hill remains closed, more traffic on already busy roads is what you think is far better? with the added pollution? Can't wait to pollute the roads more than needed again, and your in favor of that it appears, and cars will increase in numbers that are getting channeled into congested roads unnecessary. Sure you'll agree also. happy driving everybody. :)
  6. FREEDOM= BEING ABLE TO DRIVE DOWN A ROAD THAT WAS ONCE OPENED TO DO ON IS NOW NOT OPEN FOR NO REASON AT ALL,= FREEDOM GONE
  7. Yes our thoughts on this poor decision have now come true, Took 5-10mins longer for my journeys, so my car engine is idling sitting at traffic lights far longer than needed, I'm idle far more than needed as other cars have no place to go....my journey time is extend, my engine is burning more fuel than needed......MORE POLLUTION IN THE AIR. More traffic! Well done, sure that was the council's intentions. So by our clever council creating a problem that didn't exist, shoving more traffic that's adding to other traffic existing using the alternative routes, they have made more traffic/pollution problems for us all, with knock on affects that will anger other drivers/commuters/locals! Delivery vans, cabs, tradesman, will also be affected, well in fact everyone will have similar issues who need a vehicle to create income, adding to thier woes with added lost time and fuel costs some little. This only makes life hard and increasing pollution/traffic, which has have already proven by testament here on this thread. Hope the council are monitoring the increase pollution, and traffic, with before and after the closure, sure that's what they wanted, smiling at those poor results that will show they are losing a battle with traffic and pollution, which is almost impossible to win at this time. The consultation of only 80 reply's or so close to this number is not it's worth in dog poo, sure the 100's if not 1000's of other people didn't know about the consultation, or was this the council keeping things hush hhush once again?! Many more votes on the consultation would be needed to get a real perspective of the of peoples feelings of this stupid idea, an idea that has already failed. By doing nothing to the change of direction of traffic on this road would A: stop more pollution and traffic to already busy roads with traffic lights B: Stop time wasting getting from A-B C: Saved a lot of money being wasted from the tax we pay for this badly thought proposal being implemented. In fact i'd like to know the cost too! Sure it wasn't cheap. I can't wait to pollute the roads more than needed, and it's only because I'm forced to, and don't want to break the law ignoring the no right turn either. Happy driving everyone :)
  8. When i arrived at the car park yesterday,on the black sign that states out your reg plate numbers, you can't see on the sign how long your allowed to park for, (no number of hrs) so you wouln't know how long your allowed to park for in the first place! Silly really! I scene a little deception/poor maintenance here, no wonder people are getting fined. Poor management, can't even spot a obvious error. Sure this is on purpose, otherwise it would clearly say amount of time you can park for. Must be a legal issue too!
  9. I have sighn the consulation. Very much against this and so are many people in the surround area. Not only do we have a horrible proposal for large scheme of apartments on the corner the Champion Hill/DKH that will ruin the area, this road scheme will the ultimate spat on the face from southwark, to us, again..... DO NOT DO IT! Simple, leave it as it is, sometimes doing nothing is the best thing to do. Also the cost to the tax payers to do a badly thought trial would be a good insensitive to not to waste money! It would not be cheap. It's not a welcome scheme, badly thought one at that! ~Adding more time to get to destinations this is. This road is critical to get about the local area, and serves to re-leave congestion on the other busy roads into London, for traders, delivery company's, and getting to relatives, getting to work. It would only add burden to the other areas, let this road share the strain like all the other roads do. More traffic standing more pollution on roads near the station of Denmark hill, and increase accidents there too. Southwark and its staff need to be put in their place, this borough is getting worse with rubbish schemes like these, please sign against this to stop this! Poor people who live in this road are nearly completely cut off, and emergency vehicles, did they even think about that?
  10. It's the very loud motor bikes that really get me, they love speeding up/down Grove Lane I wish instead of a speed camera they could install a 'noise level' thing to stop people over revving their engines for no reason, and be able to talk to people at the same time! I understand emergency service noise but they tend to turn the sirens just to get past traffic lights, but are not attending an emergency, just to get through, wander if that's not breaking the rules, if so be better if they didn't, but they do need to get places!
  11. I have a feeling those 'Proposed Quietway' routes will only be new one way systems that are very much opposed on champion hill, leading to inconvenient access for residence and visitors ect, and increase traffic on other routes! Southwark Council are terrible with the raised tables all over the borough, slowing down ambulances down ect, bumpy rides on the bus, bad for fragile loads, increasing pollution to slow and speed up again, they need to really think again, if not put them back as they were (in certain cases) they owe us back so much money with 'slowing everything down' and 'narrowing the roads' making it more unsafer for cyclists i think.
  12. I live top of Grove Lane and see bats flying past (very close too sometimes) my window, might be two of them unless they are circling my house! Nice to see in a city like ours!
  13. Can't believe they tore down the old station building, that was once a pleasant garden center, what a crime and should not have been allowed to happen, councilors have crimes to pay for (again) and replaced with a average quality boring building of over priced stuffy cramped flats looking onto a road full of bus's and ambulance's, East dulwich station looks pathetic now, wedged up between the bridge and the horrible block, gentrification is great hey?
  14. Ends today- Save our streets from the clutter and badly thought out schemes! Champion Hill https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9577037
  15. Hi there Admose, Some times when I've got faulty equipment, it can really help to look up the model number and the problem in a youtube/google search, you'd be surprised how many people repair and give good instructions/tutorial on videos they make when they are repairing their own equipment. Some are better quality than others, and but not everything/faults fix's are uploaded. Hope this may help, and may your cd player live longer! C
  16. The view from the junction will be servery altered visually from what is now a nice pleasing view out to the sky and the view down the hill to outer regions, very severely! Why make us loose this? More worse the cluttered feeling it will create being and living in immediate area as I do! If it's has to be built, it must be no higher than whats there on the site now and far away from the junction as possible! And should be designed with historical local buildings in mind, more than just throwing in modern aspects in design, and that being that with it ect.... The disruption from the works will be slow unbearable mess to deal with day to day, just look at what happened to the horrible block for example that's STILL under construction, the block that is right next East Dulwich train station! Now does that corner now look great or what? After all that trouble.....No. After what was there before.....no. They destroyed a historical building doing this too, (what was part of the old station) Now East Dulwich station looks so pathetic now! Just by building that rubbish that's going to be dated soon as a 60's block of flats! How THIS even happen is beyond me. That's what this proposal is going to do to us here, harm to a nice corner. Southwark pulled down quite of few blocks on Dog Kennel Hill estate not long ago,and in Peckham and Elephant and Castle, and created partially them self's the problem of housing people, poor planning of the future that was very ?? to do that then, soon after build what looks like garages to replace this instead, and not achieving anything, this is another example Southwark Council wasting money again of course, not fixing the problem, only creating them. Now these desperate measures for these proposals are needed to help fix what they have done before, to the cost to what our community will look like, desperate for housing people at cost of poor decisions in the past! Look at Southwarks other huge unattractive (modern) blocks near us in Camberwell and surrounding area's! All these works are slowly turning our area into a concrete jungle, is this what we want? Southwark are hopelessly trying to fulfill their targets that will never fill the gap of much needing housing of any sort in the first place, and how long till they take more drastic measure without any consideration to the area and not spoiling our historic borough for the future generations? By letting this happen unopposed and successfully at that, this is only going to give them more insensitive for proposing preposterous blocks of rubbish and clutter, in any area they like. Anything green will be concrete soon enough. The proposals on Greendale Playing fields behind the Salisbury's store on Dog Kennel Hill is scary enough, this is another subject of course, and I'm not quite up to date on this situation as of now, but another one we need to win. This is another example to show us what inconsiderate this council has to offer. I fear for any open space's for local wild life, or for children to enjoy. A quiet place to reflect and enjoy. We spend so much effort looking after our own places and houses to keep the area looking so nice as it is, why let poorly led agenda's of Southwark spoil our good efforts, why let them spoil the streets and neighborhoods we live in, only for it not to work in the long run anyway! London is one packed deck of card, there really is't much else to build on, and then what after that? I fear in the near future the we will be living the 'Blade Runner' movie style, high rise buildings, multiple blocks just stashed anywhere with cramped area's to live in, no space to breath or see anything, but buildings. Look at historical pictures of our area, and look at the affected area's now, and what may come, we are heading in the wrong direction. The points of the compass must be changed. Keep up the good work those who are similar minded, and those actively trying their best to help the dire situation we have been forced to deal with. Please can all here Object-Refuse-Resist to this! Any way or form. Sorry for long message! Can't wait till this thing never happens!!!:)
  17. About time, years too late as well! I remember those bus new in early 2000's! I live right on the road they use so I have to hear them roar pass both ways! Night time was more annoying, quiet road then......ROAR!!!!!!!!!! Amazed it took so long, think they were newer replaced bus's than the other routes in the early 2000's then the other routes got better bus, but no not the 176, that stock had to go on for more years! what a faf, I saw on scrap kings tv program the exact type of bus 176 use, getting ripped to bits, was very satisfying, so by noisy bus, hello cleaner quieter more uplifting interior and cleaner bus! way long passed it cell by date! life got better all the sudden i feel! HA
  18. Please can you kindly share the blog?, I was very upset to see them just go without any info that they were, and hope they will be replaced with replica's, or something like that, to keep the history side of things and was a good story to tell people new to the area! Sad it is.
  19. Indeed they are very kind and happy people, nice that they are mentioned here!
  20. Hello fellow fine folk of ED!, Some years ago when I was in Australia, I used to attend LAN party's, basically if anyone doesn't know what this is it's pretty much computer geeks who love playing games old and new, setting up their PCs/Laptops or getting old computers from the past and playing old games on them, in a room/hall or something like that, connect a local network/internet to play online together, also it's kind of a social club, talking PC or games related stuff, having fun, staying up to very late, ordering pitza's, little drink or two, just simple fun really, mainly adults, who love nostalgia too! I'm just asking anyone here or anyone knows anything like this going on in the area, happy for people to PM me politely on information that could help, maybe if possible to meet similar people with similar interests in LAN party's? Thanks to anyone for help or suggestions!
