  1. Please ensure that you register to attend the Stakeholder meeting on Nov 29th, as failure to do so will be taken to show lack of concern. The key task here is to get the Council to minimise what's allowed under the licence. I've read somewhere that the applicant company has changed this year. Well, sort of, but that doesn't mean that the change is radical. Last year the company was called We Are The Fair Ltd. This year it is Assembled Live Ltd. A quick Google shows that while these are indeed different companies with different directors, they have worked together on events in the past. In the case of one licence application by Assembled Live, the correspondence address was that of We Are The Fair.
  2. Note that in the letter to residents the Council attempts to minimise impact by saying that "12% of all available space (park and common)" will not be accessible for 21 days. The headline on the website also sticks Park and Common together, although the application correctly refers to the Park. Please point out in your objections that approx 25% of the Park will be rendered inaccessible by this proposal, and that the Common isn't of much value to many of those who live on the west side of the Park.
  3. The comments above from Melbourne Grove and the Dulwich end of Barry Road show how loud this event has been. Imagine what it’s like if your house is directly over the road from the stages (as ours is). It’s good that people enjoy themselves, but the noise level and the vibrations mean that we are effectively obliged to go away (either for the 3 day period, or for much of each day). Next year, the company will apply for a licence for two 3 day events rather than one - they did the same this year, but withdrew the second application. If that is allowed, it will become the norm. Please object and help us avoid yet more disruption to our summers.

My understanding is that this year's event is three days long, but Gala intend to apply for an Event Licence for 6 days in 2024 (and probably subsequent years), having now secured the necessary Premises Licence. The degree of disruption (of various types) to those living locally is such that numerous objections to the extension are inevitable, but there will be responses in favour from people living elsewhere who want to attend, and I doubt that the objections will be successful. Nevertheless, we must try - please contact Councillors over the coming months.

  6. It'll be sad to lose the no 12, as it's been around for a long time, but otherwise the proposed change should have more or less no impact for people in ED. The 148 will be extended southwards to cover the 12 route to Dulwich Library. I lost a black card holder containing a Freedom Pass and other cards somewhere between Sainsbury?s in Dog Kennel Hill and West Dulwich at lunchtime today (I walked via GreenDale and the village). Please DM me if you have found it. The cards are cancelled, but I?d be grateful for the return of the Freedom Pass and the card holder. Definitely worth a nice bottle of wine. Thanks
  8. As some previous posters have said, the public transport model in London is much better than the one used in other parts of the country. We used to visit my parents-in-law in Yorkshire. Two competing companies each ran an hourly bus past the door on the same route. You might think there would have been a bus every half an hour, but the gap was actually just five minutes. Each company wanted its bus to run just before the other company's bus, so that it could maximise its passenger numbers. The timetables changed every few weeks as the companies played timing leapfrog. Regulation by TfL gets us the sensible service patterns we have become used to in London. Action to introduce the same model elsewhere is long overdue.

  14. Babette on Nunhead Lane does perhaps the best Sunday lunch I have found. Not cheap and not exactly traditional, but excellent. They clearly care about food. Have only had Sunday lunch there - must try other times.

  17. Also today P13s were stationary in both directions on Underhill Road for quite a while because someone was lying ill or injured in the middle of the road. (Best wishes to the person concerned, of course.) Again, no fault of the drivers or the operating company, but incidents such as this one both interrupt the service at the time, and cause timing problems over the next period too. And while it's regrettable that apbremer was delayed, a wait of 21 minutes for a P13 at a time when they are scheduled to be every 15 minutes surely doesn't justify the description "appalling", does it?

  20. If Hamlet are selected for live TV coverage the fee is ?75,000 per club.
  21. Hamlet will get ?18,750 in prize money for winning last Saturday. A win in the 1st round proper would pay ?36,000 (plus half of gate receipts, and possibly a TV fee). Dulwich are ball no 64 in tonight's draw. Because of Bury's absence, there will only be one ball left when 78 have been drawn. That side gets a bye to the 2nd round.   22. Hamlet won 3-0 on Saturday, so are through to the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, in which they have been drawn to play Havant & Waterlooville away on October 19th. (Confusingly, they were due to play the same team at home in the league that day - that game is of course postponed.) If Dulwich can win this one, they will be through to the First Round Proper for the first time since 1998-99.

  24. Attendance of 3,243 was a new record for the current Champion Hill stadium. Two home games left this season: - relegation dogfight against Hungerford on the 13th - 2nd-placed Woking visit us on the 22nd (Easter Monday).
