  1. Thank you, that's really helpful
  2. Hello - does anyone have first hand experience of the catchment area for Charter North? I can see on their website the # metres, and I have used google maps to calculate it, and it looks as though the house we are buying is in it by about 100m, BUT - everyone keeps telling me how tiny the catchment area is, so I keep having a panic about it. Of course I know it will change from year to year, and likely to get smaller if Labour bring in the VAT rule on private schools. Grateful if anyone knows whether Melbourne Grove (near junction of East Dulwich Grove) has been in catchment in recent years. Thanks!
  3. Yes, I've seen that - but that doesn't give any actual information as to why they were closed down
  4. Does anyone know why Hepburns Solicitors in East Dulwich has been closed down by the SRA?
  5. My husband can hear it.. fortunately I can't. We're on Archdale road

  7. Hello - is there already a group for mums/parents due between Oct-Dec this year? Previously I know some have been very proactive at arranging these groups, particularly for second(++) time mums. Cheers!
  8. Hello, our usual cleaning company has let us down for the 4th week in a row... Looking for a cleaner to come this Wednesday or Thursday for 3 hours for general house clean. Must have references. we are based in central SE22 near North Cross Road. PM me if interested with your rate. Thanks
  9. Hello, I am planning a loft conversion and have had several quotes mostly from companies who provide the whole package of drawings through to completing the work. But I haven't ruled out getting an architect to draw up the plans and then go to tender to get builders/loft companies to quote on the work. Presumably this way builders are quoting against like for like work rather than a quick site visit. What is people's experience of both routes and are there recommendations for architects/loft companies please?

  13. Recommendation for Nick Broughton who lives locally. He built my daughter a gorgeous alcove wardrobe with drawers at a very reasonable price. Problem solved various issues with access to plugs etc and the overall finish is super. Very close attention to detail. His number: 07815873373 https://facebook.com/broughtoncarpentry/
  14. Hi there, can anyone share their experiences of cherry Tree Montessori nursery on lacon road? I see there was some discussion on the nursery but this is a couple of years ago now. Any parents on here that use it/have used it? Would you recommend? Feel free to PM me Thanks!
  15. Thanks everyone, particularly for the constructive replies... What I was looking for is rough ideas of what others have spent though so I can pay a fair price.
  16. How much have people paid to have their front garden repaved? We have a medium-small front garden (space for all of Southwark's bins and room for a small shed type thing). We've been quoted between?3,500-?4,500, excluding materials. Seems extremely steep for replacing old paving with new simple paving (not asking for anything fancy) Thanks!
  17. I contracted John to renovate my kitchen and he did a fantastic job. In the end, it turned out to not be as easy as we had both thought ? I was only changing the doors of old ikea cabinets, new worktop, some new cabinets and new worktop. But Ikea changed their dimensions which meant John had to customise the new cabinets to be the same size. He did a brilliant job ? and had a suitable level of OCD! He was also tidy and kind to our cats, came when he said he would, finished when he said he would, and charged a very competitive price. [email protected]
  18. Must have gas safety qualification. Thanks!
  19. and if so, would they be willing to pick me up 1 kitchen cabinet door? I'd be happy to come and collect from them locally and would pay in advance. I just can't face the schlep to Ikea for one item (especially as I know I'd come out with 20...) Thanks!
  20. Looking for a carpenter to build a coat cupboard, ideally before Christmas. If interested please PM me with your number and details of work you've done before. Then we can arrange a time to provide a quote in person. Thanks, Kate
  21. Underfloor heating broken and looking for someone to fix it! Combo boiler working for central heating but has abruptly stopped igniting for underfloor heating circuit. Not sure if problem is with manifold or connection to boiler. Or the boiler itself. Was working fine two days ago. If replying to message, please be specific about your costs and experience with underfloor heating problems.
