  1. Hi Jellybeanse, I've replied to the others on the thread in individual PMs, sorry! We haven't quite had the interest we would need to set up a playgroup just yet so we've put the idea on hold for the time being. We'd love to hear from anyone who has an interest in learning Mandarin though, and would be very happy to run a smaller, more bespoke group if there was interest. You can find us at www.struckfluent.com. Many thanks! Lucy
  2. Hi all, I am part of a group of tutors who run foreign-language playgroups. We have had success with our French and German groups, and are thinking of launching a Mandarin group in the East Dulwich/Peckham area if there is sufficient interest. In line with our current groups, it would be led by a native speaker and trained tutor, and would be very relaxed and friendly. We would like to welcome parents with all levels of Mandarin, but with circle time tailored to those just starting out with the language so that they can learn songs, rhymes and chants alongside their little ones and practice at home if they wish. It would be amazing to have your thoughts on the group - is it something that would be of interest? Are there specific things that you would like/hate to see included? Where and when would be good in terms of venue and time? Any feedback would be awesome! Many thanks in advance, Lucy
  3. We are planning on it! Our son is very young still but we're thinking we'll take his lead - if school turns out to be right for him further down the line we'd never say no, but the state of the education system atm and a general ambivalence around formal education at all before the age of 7 has made us think we'd like to pursue home ed. It seems like it's a more and more popular choice, and there are lots of Home Ed groups around in addition to things like Forest School to ensure HE kids have a rich social life as well as a broad academic education. I hated the structure of school and how I was expected to just be friends with 29 random other kids born in the same year so I like the idea of my son being able to form relationships a bit more organically. Feel free to PM if you fancy a chat about it - there are a lot of FB groups specific to SE London that might be worth a look too :)
