  1. Catford branch of Wickes (i don't think it impacts on other branches) Take some cash if you are planning a trip to Wickes in Catford today. All their systems are down, so they are not able to take any card payments Cash only.
  2. Here is the link to the consultation SURVEY seeking suggestions from members of the public (I should have added this to the original post !): https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/CWIS-SAFETY/
  3. The consultation is mainly seeking "suggestions" from both members of the public and from organisation. Of course, evidence can also be provided if you want to, but it is not limited to this. For example if you click through to the survey, most of the questions are phrased along the lines: "Do you have any suggestions for ..." Thanks
  4. Hello EDF Family Room community This is just to notify/remind people that the national consultation on walking and cycle safety closes this evening (1 June 2018) at 11:45pm. if you want to add your views, whether from the perspective of a driver, cyclist, a pedestrian, or all three, this is the link to the consultation: [www.gov.uk] This is the link to the survey asking for your suggestions: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/CWIS-SAFETY/ If you are going to respond, PLEASE put your time and energy into responding to the consultation itself rather than responding to this EDF post. (This is not an invitation to start a rant on the forum about pedestrians v cyclists v drivers) Road safety is important for everyone, but it comes into sharper focus when you have a family; whether that be kids walking to school, teenagers cycling to the park, or elderly parents who are still driving and need to be shown a little more consideration by other road-users. So, I have re-posted this here in the family room, as well as on the main EDF discussion page. (EDF Admin/moderators - if I have offended your rules by posting twice, please feel free to delete this one, rather than the main post, thanks) Thanks

  6. Hi all. This is not a "lock 'em all up" post ! Just a suggestion for one possible option for abandoned bikes with no number plates - stick a spare lock on it. If you happen to see a moped/scooter with no number plate parked (or dumped) within a few streets of your house, one option is to pop home, grab a spare D-lock, or chain & padlock, go back to the scooter (along with a few neighbours, just in case criminal returns while you're locking it) put lock onto the wheel of the scooter. Understandably an abandoned scooter is not top of the police priority so it will take them some time (days?) to respond to a report of an abandoned vehicle. The lock just buys a bit of extra time, during which the criminal cannot use the bike. Please don't troll - I am not suggesting this is a complete or perfect solution, or that it will always be suitable, but it might make a small contribution to reducing the increasing scooter crime in our area. Stay safe WP
