  6. New Year - New Songs?! Longfield Voices starts back on Thursday 9 January at 10am and meets weekly. It's free and includes refreshments and everyone is welcome whether you've sung before or not. The group is led by Eppie Thompson and sings a wide range of songs - there's something for everyone and suggestions for repertoire welcome too. We have wonderful Open Bar Theatre back at Longfield Hall with their production of A Christmas Carol - it's suitable for everyone aged 4+ Shows are 11am and 3pm on Thursday 12 and Sunday 15 December. Open Bar and The Dot Collective present Dickens? classic Christmas tale. In true Open Bar style, the show is family friendly, engaging and full of laughs. With music, ghostly goings on and more than a little Christmas magic! A Christmas Carol tells the story of Enebezer Scrooge, a bitter old miser, who, on Christmas Eve, is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley. Desperate to convince him of the error of his ways, Marley sends three ghosts to lead Scrooge through his past, present and future. String are one of the only companies still using hand carved long string marionettes in the UK and their productions are magical and unique. Shows are suitable for everyone from 3 plus (you don't even need to bring children along!).   14. Sunday 15 September 11am to 1pm Never been tempted to join a book group? Too much on in life to plough through a different novel each month? How about something with a little more play? Join Longfield Hall?s script reading group and explore the world of play. We?ll read scripts out loud, playing different characters, directing and of course discussing over a cuppa! For the first session we?ll take it easy with introductions and a few short plays to get us started! We then aim to meet once every two weeks, when a different member of the group will choose the play and ?direct? for each session, assigning the roles. Led by Artistic Director of Longfield Hall, Laura Harling ? this is a group for everyone and anyone, all ages and abilities even if you?ve never acted at all, if you?re up for reading out loud and having loads of fun, this is the group for you!   16. Do you have memories of living around the Camberwell/Brixton area in the 1970s? Are you 50+ and interested in drama and local history? We are running free drama/heritage sessions exploring the history of trail-blazing theatre company Dark & Light who were based at Longfield Hall from 1969-1974. Sessions will run on Wednesdays from 11 September (11am to 3pm) until our final performance on 25 October.   18. Hi Longfield Hall is a bus ride from East Dulwich but we offer a range of free fitness activities for older people plus a Thursday morning free singing group.   21. Free weekly family fitness class every Thursday 2pm to 3pm. Enjoy an hour of child-friendly dance techniques designed to get you all moving and stretching in a super fun way to get fit. To attend you'll need to join Incredible Edible LEAP - you just need to have a child under 4 and live in Stockwell, Vassall, Coldharbour or Tulse Hill wards.   22. Longfield Hall is really excited to have the wonderful String Theatre back for the third time with their family show The Red Balloon. Saturday 15 December 4.30pm Sunday 16 December 11am and 4.30pm The Red Balloon tells the story of a small boy's friendship with a balloon. Using long-string wood-carved marionettes and accompanied by specially commissioned music, this spell-binding show transports both adults and children into the poignant world of the puppet characters.
