  1. Brian and Malachy did a really good job of painting the courtyard in my front yard. It was a really tricky job that involved complicated dismantling and painting, I had loads of people come round and promise the earth but when it came to it they either couldn't commit or thought it was too difficult. Brisn did it very professionally and worked with my demanding requests without complaint. The paint work is great as you'd expect from pros but it was the trust that I liked most, they had a key to my house and were totally trustworthy which allowed them to get on with job without me having to worry. Started bang on 8am every day and worked right through until the job complete. Brian has a great team and constantly made sure his they were doing what was expected. You get what you pay for and there was no messing around just a good solid job that I'm really pleased with. Nice guys to work with, fun, friendly, trustworthy and respecting. It's hard to find decent people so I'm happy to recommend, message me if you want to see their work. Cheers.
  2. You are very welcome to come and see the work he has done for me. 7 complicated sliding doors and locks - all expertly fitted and trust me I picked the most difficult doors available! Also built an amazing outhouse that was designed by myself without any consideration to the complexity of the work involved. Joe worked tirelessly to get this right and we finished up with such a great piece of work that people keep walking by taking photos of! He also laid wooden floor and decking - I really can't recommend him highly enough. Come and see for yourself! Just pm me..
  3. I'm really surprised as I have found joes work really good quality and reasonable price. He has completed quite a large bike shed and bin store for me recently that is very well built. I found him trustworthy and reliable so would have no reluctance to recommend him. Pm me if you'd like to see the work he did for me. I will be using him again for sure as he seems to grasp the design concept really well.
  4. So is blue mountain closed for good?
  5. I live next door to TGE and have done for 8 years. There is no doubting the improvements that have been made and I think it is a great addition to the neighbourhood. The uke band on a Saturday afternoon and early evening is a very welcome sound across the fences! I like the efforts that are being made to make this a proper local where everyone is encouraged to get involved with things like the market, beer tastings and live local music. Dan and the team have been very considerate about noise and taken on how I am affected, respectfully closing the 'yard' at 1030 or 11. However it is a local pub, not boho bar and I cannot see how later licences are needed for any other reason that to milk an extra few quid out of some wasted people who seriously should have gone home before the current closing time. We are lucky in Dulwich to have late opening pubs on the high street and I don't think we need them in the back streets where children and adults are setting alarms to wake up for school or work at 7am . I am currently on my way to work after very little sleep as a result of someone so drunk at 1am that 6 or so people had to spend the night loudly debating whether to call him an ambulance. I am knackered and probably won't pop in to my local tonight for a pint or two because I will need to try and catch up on the sleep I missed... Let's keep this pub open but make it a proper local that kicks you out at closing time so that everyone is able to get back in there for opening time. Those who want to get hammered after midnight should go to one of the later opening pubs on the main drag - better still go to a club and dance off that pending hangover.
  6. I live minutes away from the market and totally support an expansion and extension of dates, however I was really dissapointed when I was declined the pitch I applied for. As a local resident in the area for 12 years I feel we should be given priority for pitches rather than stall holders from outside the area. I had a very successful stall on Northcote Road Market for years selling high end wine accessories, glasses and hampers but was told that someone else on Northcross Road is already selling these products. I think they have mis-understood the products we sell and am appealing to see if I can still get a pitch - check the products at GrapeThings and tell me what you think - good or bad!
  7. Remeber The Forresters (Now the Bishop) and the Green Grocer next door? - if only they had been able to hang on a bit longer they would have been making a fortune now. I cant remember the name of the gorgeous blonde girl who used to work there but I remember her fingerless gloves!
  8. A good little tip is to join the great new gym at Brockwell lido, more expensive than Dulwich but you get to use Brockwell, Peckham Pulse, Dulwich Leisure Centre or the one at Elephant, as well as Waverley Girls school behind the Rye. For some strange reason members of the Dulwich leisure centre are not entitled to use Brockwell, so definitely worth paying the extra for the best of all worlds! The lido has great facilities, sauna steam etc - although swimming outside is now a little cold! It is a shame that they have made no provision for sauna and steam at the renovated Dulwich leisure centre but I suppose a creche was more popular when the surveys were conducted.
  9. I did actually get a letter about the replacement of the pavement - there was also a number to call for any enquiries 020 8636 8822 taking you to Conway who are the contractors. I called them because my mains water has been lost under tarmac from previous work - they told me to go out and speak to the workmen when thye get my end of the street and ask them to ensure they make the water mains visible. When they do get round to re-commencing the work, I will pop out, offer them a cuppa and ask them to! It all sounds pretty good, I just hope the get round to doing the whole street.
