Agree. Gutter politics. And woeful strategically.

  2. Thanks DB. For those in her constituency, TODAY is the day to email. It can take as little as 1 minute if you're busy and want to keep it brief.

Great that Helen Hayes has come out for a 2nd Referendum.

The idea that another vote is anti-democratic when TM's deal bears NO resemblance to what was sold to us 2.5 years ago is getting harder and harder to swallow. A whole-scale failure to live up to all those Brexit promises IS anti-democratic.

  3. 2nd referendum odds now 13/8 on!

ps good day to SEND YOUR MP AN EMAIL if you haven't already. Helen Hayes is backing another vote, but it might be helpful to let Harriet Harman know your views.

'If any agreement is voted down by Parliament, my preference is for there to be a general election - to try to get a Government that can negotiate the best agreement for our country. However, if a general election is not possible, all other options for breaking the impasse must be kept open including a public vote.'

The above the best possible promo for the March 20th October.

Brexit = illiberalisation of British Culture.

  5. Yep - the current 'norms' are the equivalent of an alternative universe in which a 52/48 split in favour of Remain sees Chukka, Chris Leslie etc telling the 48% Leavers that the only route forwards is to join the Euro asap.

    March on 20th!

    Resist the nutjob right!!

    Hope not dbboy!

The first People's Vote march made it onto most of the front pages. The idea of a People's Vote has gained a lot more traction since that first march - helped of course by the ongoing shambles, infighting and chaos that is our attempt to leave the EU.

Politicians are deeply affected by the public's mood, and public opinion is shifting as the facts become clearer.

At present there's no majority in parliament for a Chequers-style deal, or a No deal. And Canada plus is unworkable because of a) the border in Northern Ireland and b) the loss of manufacturing jobs in the UK.

The Tories won't call an election. So when the parliamentary impasse arrives, what's the alternative?

  7. We weren't well informed first time round (crap talked on both sides).

We'll be much better informed if a second vote happens.

A better informed electorate means better democracy.

Theresa May called a General Election half-way through a fixed-term parliament and there weren't riots in the streets...

  8. Does anyone have any thoughts on bread makers and which ones are good? And do you actually end up using it as an alternative to buying bread regularly ie are they fairly straightforward to use? Getting a bit fed up with local options which are either run of the mill sliced from newsagents, or v expensive from smart bakery places....Thoughts gratefully received!
  9. I'd second what midivydale says - the slightly mental bit at the beginning passes very quickly. Trust that you won't be getting up x times a night forever! Second time round parents seem to be a lot more relaxed and that's probably to do with a bit of extra experience, but also just knowing how quickly it all changes makes you a bit more chilled about the less good bits. A six month old baby is very different from a four week old baby....

I'd get local networks going - NCT, or those groups on the forum. Hanging out with on your own with a baby ain't always a bag of laughs. A friendly face over a cuppa makes a big difference. Someone gave me the tip of doing 'one thing a day' when I was pregnant, and I think it's quite a good rule of thumb. You'll soon have a two year old on your hands and the days pass a lot more quickly and happily if they're hanging out with a pal...

Take advantage of the fact that you're not bound to bedtimes at home when they're tiny (ie they can sleep in a sling, or a buggy). We ended up in the pub a fair bit when first one was little. In some ways you have a lot more flexibility pre. orderly bedtimes and cots!

    Good luck!

  10. We're looking for a cleaner to help out for somewhere between 3-5 hours Friday 3rd August. We're getting our house ready to rent on Air B n B and it's being cleaned this week so it'll mainly be changing sheets etc and some general help. Happy to pay ?12 p/h.

PM if interested . Thank you!!
