  1. Hi all, Goldilocks - I will look into this on Monday morning. You're right that this is not correct. Thanks for all the other comments, please do put them onto the interactive map too so that officers can consider them as they go. Best wishes James
  2. Hi all, Thanks for raising this AylwardS. Much appreciated. The council has set out its Movement Plan response to covid19 and launched a website where you can make suggestions for changes to the highways or pavements in specific places around the borough. Do have a look here: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/health-and-wellbeing/public-health/for-the-public/coronavirus/impact-on-council-services/coronavirus-help-us-combat-covid-19-by-suggesting-healthier-streets More specifically, there are some proposals for Melbourne Grove, Derwent Grove and Elsie Road. If you live on one of those streets please let us know what you think: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSec3c3OCsSboVdTnBrOScgFUz6YjVpU1l7GTdYobFNKZCYdvw/viewform?usp=sf_link Any questions, please get in touch! I hope everyone is staying safe and well, and having a pleasant weekend! Best wishes James

  4. Hi all Great to hear that this was resolved. Separately, the council has set out its Movement Plan response to covid19 and launched a website where you can make suggestions for changes to the highways or pavements in specific places around the borough. 5. Hi all Regarding the DV figures - as I have said already, my understanding is that the figures are not from a period when there were road works. If you think that that is untrue then I suggest you lodge a complaint with the council. I'd be happy to support anyone with this - just drop me an email. Spartacus - thanks for flagging this up again. I have reported it with the council. I agree that this is not a good process. While we are on the subject of roads and traffic, the council has set out its Movement Plan response to covid19, and launched a website where you can make suggestions for changes to the highways or pavements in specific places around the borough. 6. Hi all TE44 - depends what you mean by long-term. It could definitely be in place in some form for quite a while. The pavement widening would be through barriers and cones though, not digging up the road. As for the music - I guess it depends on how people react to your taste in music! Best wishes James
  7. Hi all bobbsy - if you have experienced loss of income due to covid19 then you can get money off your council tax bill. Have a look here. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/council-tax/covid-19-help-and-advice Separately, the council is looking into widening pavements at particular pinch points. On Lordship Lane the council thinks key spots are junctions with lots of queuing e.g. Post Office / Barclays, M&S, William Rose Butchers. What do you think? Any to add? I've also tweeted about this and there is a conversation going on there: Best wishes James
  8. Hi all I have checked and apparently the baseline measurements were carried out from 28th September to 16th October 2015, when there were no road works. Rockets - the residents were overwhelmingly in favour of traffic calming measures being put in place, but as I say - we didn't get as far as we'd like with the canvassing due to the crisis so results are only tentative. hopskip - Can you email me with more details? They can be closed for a variety of reasons. Alan Medic - Thanks for letting me know about this. That doesn't sound right at all - I will raise it and see what's going on. Sorry about the inconvenience caused. I hope everyone is staying safe and well. Best wishes James
  9. Hi slarti_b Yes you're right, Area A is in Goose Green but the vast majority of the project is in Dulwich Village, hence the Dulwich Village councillors leading on it. In fact, until Phase 3 began most of Area A was not even considered part of the project. Before the lockdown began we Goose Green councillors were engaging with residents in the Melbourne Grove area on the issue (e.g. https://twitter.com/mcash/status/1231554193275736065). We had planned to expand this further but this crisis has obviously thrown a spanner in the works there. I agree that it's important that residents in Goose Green are able to shape the project. That said, I do not know off the top of my head the details behind that specific statistic, and have never used it myself. Hence, the need to check. Best wishes James
  10. Hi both Thanks first_mate for raising this, and thanks too Penguin68 for your colourful comments. I am afraid I do not have an immediate answer for this. As you know, the Health Streets project is centred in Dulwich Village ward, and led by those councillors. Those quotes and claims attributed to local councillors were not made by me. I will alert Cllrs Newens and Leeming to this thread and try to find out more. Best wishes James
  11. Hi all, First, a response to a query from a little while back: Yorksgirl - The vast majority of Southwark's public toilets should be equipped with hot water - including all of those in parks. The only exception I have found so far is in East Street. With regard to pubs and supermarkets this is something we can look at in the longer term. Second, thanks to everyone who has raised points about pavement-widening and other suggestions for safe active transport. I have been pushing the council on this matter and am happy to say that they are exploring it. I am told there should be an announcement in the near future on our first initiative. The challenges of council resources, particularly during the lockdown period, mean that we inevitably will not be able to reallocate road space everywhere in the borough, but we will consider carefully where we can do this to ensure safe social distancing where we can. Third, I have a couple of updates regarding children and young people. Laptops and equipment for Southwark children and young people If a child or young person is unable to access and complete work that has been set online because they do not have access to a laptop (or other essential equipment) then they can apply for an immediate grant from the Newcomen Collett Foundation. Once accepted, the foundation will aim to get the laptop to the student within 4 days. The fund is only available for Southwark students up to age 25. There are only a limited number of laptops available, so please reach out to those young people and families in most need. Parents or students have to apply online, and will need access to an internet/broadband service. They will need a school, college or university teacher/lecturer to support their application and to countersign a supporting form that will need to be sent off along with the main application form. To apply, the child/ parent should go to online applications (https://marshalls.flexigrant.com/areadetail.aspx?farea=1121) then follow the link to 'grants to individuals'. Alternatively, the school or university can apply via this link on their behalf. Free school meals Schools and families eligible for free school meals have now converted over ?20 million worth of vouchers into supermarket gift cards (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-free-school-meals-guidance). Vouchers can either be sent directly to the family, or to the school. The DfE are temporarily extending free school meal eligibility to include some children of groups who have no recourse to public funds (NRPF), subject to a maximum household earnings threshold of ?7,400 per annum. These groups are: ? children of Zambrano carers ? children of families with no recourse to public funds with a right to remain in the UK on grounds of private and family life under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights ? children of families receiving support under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989 who are also subject to a no recourse to public funds restriction The DfE are also temporarily extending eligibility to children of a subset of failed asylum seekers supported under Section 4 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999. The extension, effective immediately and lasting until the schools reopen fully, is temporarily in place to support families facing difficulties due to the current unique circumstances. It covers both children who are attending school and children who are at home. Best wishes, James
  12. Hi all, I will look into the question of road works during the lockdown and get back to you when I know. The suggestion that I might be prioritising Conway's profits is... bizarre. Meanwhile, I have a couple of updates regarding children and young people. 13. Hi heartblock I have been looking into this but has so far not been able to work out where the noise is from - it's difficult during the lockdown. Do you have any idea? Best wishes James

  16. Not sure - I think it's just a case of council staff putting everything in place. My guess would be today or tomorrow but I don't know for certain. Best wishes James
  17. Hi all david_carnell - I have raised this with the council and the plastic mesh will be removed. I also raised the issue with the cemeteries and the following has now been agreed. - The council will re-open Nunhead and Camberwell Old Cemeteries to the public, on the basis of the opening hours prior to the emergency. - The council will re-open Camberwell New Cemetery on Sundays only. This is because of the volume of funerals that take place there, including now more on Saturdays. - That if funerals need to take place at Nunhead or Camberwell Old cemeteries (for example for a Muslim or Jewish burial at Nunhead or to re-open a double-plot at either location) that the cemetery is closed for the duration of that service. Where this is the case, a notice will be placed on the cemetery gate to explain the closure. Where practical, we will give advance notice of these closures via social media (this may be more challenging where notice periods are short, such as with Muslim burials). I hope this is a satisfactory outcome for everyone! Best wishes James
  18. Hi all I will look into the cemeteries issue again. If it is safe to open them then I think we should. seenbeen - Southwark has disseminated hardship support before even receiving it from the government. But if anyone is having issues with this then please let me know and I will look into it. siousxiesue - I think cyclemonkey is right about takeaway ice cream. Not sure about the car wash - I will check. Best wishes, James
  19. Hi pinkladybird Thanks for raising this. Quite a few other people have raised this with me too. I basically agree with you but unfortunately, government regulations say that construction can continue so long as social distancing rules are maintained. Best wishes, James
  20. Hi TheCat The issue is that the waste collection teams are understaffed due to sickness and self-isolation. Already the council is having to rely a huge amount of agency staff to make up the capacity. I will continue to push for this though. Best wishes James
  21. Dear all TE44 - I have looked into the allotments issue but I am afraid I have not got very far. As you may know, allotments are managed by independent voluntary organisations, not the council, so we do not have much information about 'real' usage rates. Sorry that this is not more helpful. Best wishes James
