  1. I was talking about this subject this morning with a neighbour. We are both absolutely disgusted with the amount of dog poo on our road (Silvester). Any dog owners who allow their dog to mess without clearing it up should be ashamed of themselves. I have a 14 month old who has just started walking. I thought it would be nice for her to have her first walk on the pavement yesterday and she stepped in some outside our house. Lovely. Thanks for the memory! I'm sure it's not all dog mess but must also be the result of foxes but I would support any action taken against irresponsible dog owners. Good call TonyQuinn.
  2. Hi Cate, Sorry about the delay in responding. Shamrock is about a mile and a half from the village of Millbrook. It's a lovely walk down a couple of leafy lanes, although the climb back can be rather tiring! You wouldn't a 4x4 at all. You park at the top on the coast road and then walk down to the cabin. cheers, Matt
  3. ps.....I meant to say Valentines Day w/e has been booked...... cheers, Matt Hi, Once again, spring is on it's way and we are have already started taking bookings for our cabin "Shamrock". As the continuing trend seems to be holidaying at home and if you're thinking of staying put yourself this year then please take a look at our website. It's perfect for romantic breaks, small family holidays or even just a break from everyday life. Whitsand Bay is a stunning part of coastline located in the relatively undiscovered SE corner of Cornwall on the Rame Peninsula. During summer months you can often have the beach to pretty much yourself and maybe just a handful of others. There are beautiful coastal walks to be had locally and we therefore welcome well behaved dogs. There is a log burning stove in there to keep you nice and cosy on cold winter nights. As we go down there from East Dulwich ourselves as often as we can we've tried to make it as homely as possible. There's even a beach cafe located about 100 yards away for a traditional breakfast or lunch in case you're feeling particularly lazy! And a wonderful restaurant can be found just a 10 minute stroll along the coast road...... If you want any further info please call or PM me. All details on our website www.shamrockcabin.co.uk cheers, Matt 020 8299 6613
  4. friend of a friends company so can't vouch for them.... http://www.lonesomepine.co.uk:80/ and yes, they seem to be on the expensive side, but there is a useful page on their for looking after your tree, wherever you choose to get it from.

  7. That's what i'd heard timewise. You picked a great w/e to be there! Mt Edgcumbe is our new favourite place for a walk. The Camellias are stunning. Were they still out?
  8. Hi, You're absolutely right! Funnily enough last time we were there we were informed that the 81 bus does indeed go from the station all the way up to the cabin. The stop is literally 50 yards away. Very handy. Also, some friends recently visited taking the train from Paddington to St Germans(home to the Port Eliot estate). This is only a few miles away so would be a lot cheaper if you were to take a cab. I'll check to see if buses go from there. Could you let me know where you got the bus info from? I found the bus company website extremely hard to navigate when I checked last year. cheers,
  9. We do indeed. I have sent you a PM. cheers, matt

  17. I used to bank with Barclays and got tired of the way I was treated having been a customer for 20 years. That combined with wanting to lead a more ethical lifestyle I moved to Smile. Best thing I ever did. They pay a really good rate on your current account, offer extremely secure internet banking and invest ethically. I post cheques (free) to them. You can order curreny direct with them and they deliver it to you. We don't vote with our feet enough in this country. We are lucky that we have so many available options. Go on tell Barclays to shove it!
  18. Hi, Further to my posting a couple of months ago re our cabin in Cornwall we have now finally put together a pdf page with pictures etc. If anyone is interested please email me and I'll forward a copy on. Happy New Year! ta, [email protected] ps I live in East Dulwich and checked that I could post about my cabin with the Administrator

    Boxing

Hi, Does anyone know of anywhere locally showing the boxing tonight? ta,
  22. I believe so yes, but naturally you'd have to allow additional time. Bus/train to Plymouth and then another bus. However being quite remote the service is only hourly. It wouldn't be like waiting for a bus on Lordship Lane. If you're flush, then approx ?25 from the station to the cabin via the ferry. Millbrook is the nearest village, about a mile and a half away. You could walk it for supplies or I beleive one of the locals has set up a delivery service. I'm there this w/e so will look into that. ta,
  23. Hi Charley, That's quite alright I know what you mean about the "second home" thing. My folks live in Cornwall and experience it first hand. What we're trying to do with our cabin though is not to treat it as a second home. When there's no-one in it my folks go and stay there. Its handy as my step-father works as a volunteer coastguard at the local station. There is a local cafe and a restaurant which need continual support and we're trying to encourage people to use the local shops rather than taking a big bag of shopping down with them. In the local village there is a fantastic grocery shop (a smaller version of everyones favourite SMBS on Lordship Lane). There are local farms to buy meat and eggs from and a fish market in Looe where you can buy fish straight from the sea. As I see it and having links with cornwall, getting people down there to spend quality time and spend their hard earned cash on local businesses ain't such a bad thing. ta,
