  1. After having exchanged several messages with Linda and agreeing everything, she just didn't turn up last Fri (our last exchange was on Thurs night at 9.45pm to finalise her starting the next day at 0830). I called her several times on the day and also sent texts (first to check she was OK more than anything). No responses or apologies, just completely ghosted. I'm not in the habit of posting publicly like this and totally understand things happen/plans change but no one is beyond the courtesy of a brief update message.
  2. Fernando has helped with the upkeep of my garden since 2020. He is great and very flexible, kind and does a brilliant job of tidying the garden. His rates are very reasonable and I'd highly recommend him.
  3. Fernando helped me with my garden today. He was very easy to communicate with and even texted to say he could come earlier than plan Ed as he had a cancellation. He is such a diligent worker and persevered to clear the garden, top it up with compost and fertiliser and plant a few plants through the galeforce winds we have today. Also very well priced. Will definitely have him around again in a couple of months.
  4. Hi I have a small garden with some raised beds and astroturf. In good condition but just need a winter tidy up ie pick leaves, deadhead some plants and general tidy up. Ideally this Sunday for about 60 mins, max 90 mins.willing to pay 12 pounds per hour. Pls PM me. I am based in SW2, near Brockwell Park. Parking available on weekend.
  5. Hi Nigel, Thanks for your tips. I have succulents growing outside in a tub. I'm thinking I should cover them up as it'll get frosty soon. Any ideas or tips on how to make a "cloche" type thing to protect them? Moving them inside isn't an option as the tub weighs a ton! Thx
  6. Brixton Rec have footy classes but think they start from age 3
  7. Hi all I am writing on behalf of the Friends of Jessop PTA, the parent teacher association of Jessop Primary School, Herne Hill. We are a new PTA, have only been setup one year. We organise fairs and events to raise money for our school as well as helping out in whatever way we can with improving school life for pupils. One thing that we suffer from, in comparison to other school in the area, is a sparsity of local restaurants and businesses that we can approach to collaborate with. I wonder if there are any local reataurants or caterers on EDF who would be interested in collaborating with us, in providing food or prizes for some our events? Examples inc crepe stalls, someone making good vege food, etc This could form part of a valued source of hyper local marketing as well as count toward your Corporate Social Responsibility activity. I am very much looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help out.We can dis cuss what is in your and our best commercial interests.
  8. I think the Herne Hill Velodrome may be running some cycling camps. Other option is Nimble Arts which my kids love. Think it find a from Goodrich Primary now.
  9. As far as the lively conversation and daily contact is concerned try good gym. Runners stop by for a chat and cuppa and get their exercise too. It's such a good concept. See link https://www.goodgym.org/coach-runs
  10. Thanks so much all! @nylonmeals would you mind sharing the name of your school? (Pm me if better)
  11. Can I canvas opinion please? My kids go to a state school in Herne Hill. They've just moved to year 3 i.e. Key Stage 2. Up until now under the government's School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme (SFVS), they were all provided (all kids aged 4-6) with fruit during their mid-morning break time. Having moved up to KS2, this isn't available anymore. I completely get that the SVFS stops, I also accept with the current funding issues schools cannot fork out for this from their own budgets, but children are not even allowed to bring in a piece of fruit from home either! The rationale for the school's policy is that some parents wouldn't be able to afford a piece fruit for their kids to bring in so essentially nobody can. I really cannot understand the rationale esp as the school a)is assuming that they'd be lots of kids without fruit each day due to affordability issues (to which I am empathetic) i.e. its not based on a trial b) I can almost bet that it would be an insignificant minority and maybe the PTA could try and help fund a snack for these kids. For the sake of a few I feel majority of kids are being penalised and they're actually hungry as their lunch time is also much later than at KS1. There are some concentration issues too...when tummies are rumbling. Can I get some views from you on 1. What is the policy in your school? If possible could you name the school as we need some evidence of what local practice around us is. 2. If there is an affordability issue how has your school tackled this? 3. Any other useful info. I feel that the school should not be able to just make up this rule...there must also be a "legal" aspect that says that they need to consider the benefit for the majority. TIA!
  12. I used drain boss to get a camera down my drains. They were really good and found exactly what the issue was https://drainboss.co.uk
  13. Not quite Herne Hill I realise but Brixton Rec has loads. JAGS may too but not sure of age range there.
  14. I have had nannies on term time contracts ie for 38 weeks a year. The holiday is then prorata'd over the 38 weeks.
  15. thanks Sunlover! Do you have a web link or telephone number. I have tried to google it but not found anything!
