  1. Another thumbs up for Roz, who has helped my husband & I through a sticky patch and is very much recommended. A v good counsellor and easy to get on with :-)
  2. Many thanks - that's heartening to hear :-)
  3. Thank you. But some lovely EDF users have indeed PM'd me as I requested :-)
  4. Please does anyone have a recommendation for a local marriage guidance/couples counsellor who has an interest in helping couples with kids work through issues to stay together? Please PM me if you know of anyone good or have had experience of someone you recommend. Thanks very much :-)
  5. Thanks e-dealer - that's terrific :-)
  6. Does anyone know what time the gates open/bonfire lit/fireworks start/event ends at the Sports Ground/Burbage Road display/event on Saturday please?
  7. We do early evening on the 31st with our 3 yr old and 8 yr old and 3 friends each. We buy some fun Halloween craft things to do first then only go up and down our own street, only knocking at houses with pumpkins... I also post a note the day before asking 3 nice neighbours whether we can call at 6pm and offering to give them sweets to hand out, so we are assured of at least 3 or 4 positive welcomes :-). Personally on that basis it's a fun half an hour for all and then the condition is that only around 5 sweets are eaten on the night - the rest are saved for another day. Everyone on our road seems to enjoy going up and down and if we've taken away the pumpkin at bedtime people don't call any more... Happy Halloween to all, and may everyone's nights run as they personally wish...
  8. Thanks camps and everyone else who took the time to comment - now I feel somewhat reassured and I hope we get the house we have our heart set on. Thank you :-)
  9. Forgot to add 0208-316-1509 or 0207-535-6012 in case that's helpful.
  10. Another thumbs up for Tony from Allied Remedials :-)
  11. Thanks so much for responding purplebanana! If you are a door number above 230 (or thereabouts) and near the Etherow Rd junction that's the area I was asking about. The school traffic for Goodrich and St Anthony's isn't a problem - as you say it's just at pick up/drop off times. I agree the houses and gardens are fab - I was keen to hear from locals at that end whether speedy cars, noisy parties or dogs barking endlessly were major issues or just occasional issues! The road seems really nice so fingers crossed :-). Thanks for taking the time to reply :-)
  12. Thanks v much Norfolk Villas. Are you near the Goodrich junction part? Is that the middle? I appreciate your comments, many thanks.
  13. ps: StraferJack do you still live there?
  14. And thanks also Tyke - I just looked at a map, and you mean the 200+ end too :-)
  15. Thanks so much StraferJack - that's kind of you to respond. A local friend did mention about cars speeding over the humps at the 200 + end, from St Anthony's onwards, as it's those smaller speed bumps ... But selfish speeders aside, I have always loved the idea of Friern Rd, it's just forum talk of late loud parties and dogs barking for hours on end have concerned me a little recently...I guess I would just love to hear reassurance from locals like you...
  16. Tyke - which end do you mean? Near Northcross Rd junction or that side? Bilbob - do you live there or are you generally just trying to put me off ? I noticed this is your first post ;-) Anyone else want to be helpful? Honest opinions of locals of Friern Rd near St Anthony's really would be appreciated. I live in a friendly mainly quiet road at the moment so was seeking similar...
  17. Yes...saw that one! Don't mind dogs, but prefer not endless hours of barking... Anyting else?
  18. Hello. We're thinking of buying in Friern Road - the end near the back of St Anthonys and the flats. Is it a nice area to live? Any thoughts re traffic, noise etc please? I know people who live right up the Peckham Rye side (the lower street numbers) of Friern and love it, but was keen to hear from anyone who lives further up. Love the house, just keen to know any road pros/cons and would be grateful for any 'nice' comments...!
  19. Where is it taking place AllyCat? Police matter maybe?
  20. Why don't the owners take them for a walk/run in the eve? 8pm seems quite late for noisy barking in a family area where young kids are probably in bed by 7.30pm for school morning starts?
  21. Streatham synagogue is close to Balham/Tooting - maybe a 10/15 min drive? And apparently they do Sat am kids classes/activities - I can let you know when I find out more :-)
  22. Another East Dulwich jew gal with non Jew hubby - and our 2 girls aged 3 and 8. I will be joining Streatham Synagogue and signing my daughter up for religion school later this Summer - never too early for the lead up to her batchayil :-) My brother and his family (also in E Dulwich) are already members and it's a nice synagogue - v inclusive of all and also has English speaking as well as Hebrew :-). I've been with him on Rosh Hashana before. I'm surprised there's quite a few of us around here ;-)
  23. and the Waveney Ave, Asquith Peckham Rye Day Nursery - which is 8-6 and v nice - from 6months...
  24. Rodwell Road held a lovely street party today - organised by a team of neighbours on the East section, who got together to pull it all together. It was really lovely - neighbours, masses of kids, food, drink & games...like the Silver Jubilee street parties us oldies may remember as kids?! I wasn't an organiser, just a grateful attendee, but wanted to give everyone a big thumbs up & thank you for a lovely day :)) Rodwell Road really is a nice road :)
