  1. It was indeed Mrs Tinks I was thinking of. I will get in touch and see if she can rescue me! Thanks for the help.
  2. I'm working full-time, about to move house and my other half is studying for his impending finals. All in all I don't have much time to spend making meals to leave in the fridge/freezer for my toddler - either ready for grandma to give him or to feed him when I finish work. I think I remember reading on here about someone that offered locally made baby and toddler meals - healthy pre-made meals, possibly with a delivery service. It might be just the thing to help me keep it together for the next few weeks. I've had a trawl through past threads but beginning to think I imagined it? Does anyone else remember this or have any other ideas?
  3. Another recommendation for Asquith Peckham Rye. My little boy has been there a couple of days a week from 7 months and loves the staff. They get great food (puts my cooking to shame) and spend lots of time outside in the newly done up garden.
  4. Well we found loads of blackberries in Dulwich Wood, mulberries in Peckham Rye (they had been pretty well picked recently), elderberries everywhere and rowan berries near Dawson Heights. We did see sloes but only in private gardens I'm afraid! Didn't make any jam this time but had a lovely summer fruit cake for our efforts! Will go collecting again soon. Thanks everyone for the tips.
  5. Thanks everyone. Off to forage so will see how I get on!
  6. I was hoping to collect some berries - rowans, blackberries, crab apples or anything else that might make a nice jar of jam. Does anyone know any good spots around ED or a short drive away? Thanks.
  7. Oh dear. Sounds like the same thing. Hope you are all feeling back to normal soon. It took until yesterday to feel quite a lot better (Day 5!) but still not very energetic. I thought these things lasted 24 hours!!! Get well soon everyone - it is not funny looking after little ones when you're poorly xx
  8. Has anyone else been struck by a virus? My little one was off food for a few days and had a vaguely snotty nose then did a sick and seems absolutely fine now. I, on the other hand, have been flattened for 3 days. Nearly passed out, off food, really tired.... Just wondered if it's doing the rounds?
  9. Try www.bespokecakeslondon.com. Made my little one a fab first birthday cake. And she's local.
  10. I had a very similar experience. Various people suggested leaving him to settle but he isn't one for lying quietly while I pat him or rub him, never mind leaving the room and I just never felt comfortable with it. He is more about crawling up and down, standing up, lying down, standing up, lying down, giggling...... I persevered with the feeding, cuddling, whatever he needed to make him comfortable enough to get him to sleep. I went through a phase about the same point as you as thinking that I was being soft and doing it all wrong and feeling guilty that he wouldn't learn to do it himself and that I had missed the opportunity to ever instill "good sleeping practices", but am now glad that I just went with it as he is now (at 10 months) sleeping through most of the time (unless he is about to master a new trick or has a tooth coming through) and mostly just needs a quick rub on the back to send him off if he wakes and doesn't settle himself (boy have I jixed my sleep for this weekend!!). I think we are approaching "the other side" and I think that my sanity is (almost) "intact"!! Good luck xx
  11. I bought a cat net in anticipation as the cat jumped in the moses basket/cot at any given opportunity before my little boy was born. She still slept in the moses basket after he turned up but only when he was far away in a different room with the door closed and soon scarpered if she heard any kind of baby squawks approaching. It's still rare to see them in the same room and he's 11 months now!
  12. Having spent much of Saturday shopping for a sunhat that would fit baby boy it seems he managed to remove it and chuck it out the buggy today! If anyone found a blue sunhat with red lobsters on it (size medium I think) can you give me a shout please!!! It would probably be on upland/north cross road. Thankyou.
  13. Hi there, I have an hour each Wed when both my husband and I need to be at work. I am loathe to put the little one (7 months) in nursery for another full day as he already does 2 days, and it would also be a very expensive for the sake of 1 hour! Does anyone know of any creches/childminders that would cover an hour or two? It's a regular time that I could arrange in advance so wouldn't be a random drop off. It would be easiest if it's either local to SE22 or possibly near Borough tube if anyone knows the area. Thanks.
